That Deep socket need be be thin wall too, well at least on mine I needed a thin wall to fit on the nuts. I would reconmens all try to remove one wheel nut to see if they have the right tools.

Good idea Steve. To add to that, new owners should jack up the camper at home on a flat surface before hitting the road for the first time just to make sure the TV jack will do the job.

My wheels didn't need a thin wall socket, but I use a regular depth socket with an extension.

So I kinda listed the nice to haves .. but you will definately need things to fix the camper in-case of a blowout .. for flat on the trailer.
I always carry a Tbar, a small 12 volt inflater, a hydro- jack..and a good hitch lock for the trailer ... in case you have to leave it .
On the nice to have things ... grab an ice maker ... We have used this thing for the past number of years when camping in early spring to late summer .. it paid for itself about 2 times over ...
i love doing a run for firewood .. but ice ...

A cordless drill for raising and lowering the stabilizer jacks -

I keep mine in a tool box that is attached to the A frame rear bumper.
If you search my posts, you'll see a pic.

I use a 3/8" drill with an adapter and socket to fit the stabilizer jacks.
At setup, it takes about 1 minute to run all 4 stabilizer jacks down.
Takedown is the same, raising the jacks very quick.
Apply oil to all moving scissor jack parts.

Have fun!

I just spent the afternoon redoing my tongue adapter. Now its outside diameter is the same as the stabilizer jacks. Had to use to different sockets all this year. Now down to one size fights all. Tighter fit. So should not show any signs of wear.

hello mickrock,

I saw you response on this thread. I've been trying to figure out the best way to add tool/storage boxes on the bumper of my A128S when I came across your reply. I searched with your name and found an old posting regarding your tool box addition to your rear bumper. I have a couple of question I hope you can help with.

1. Looks like the boxes are using straps to secure to the bumper. What do the straps connect to or wrap around? It looks like they just wrap around the bumper itself. Did you also drill any holes in the bumper and bolt on the boxes to keep them secure? If just holding on with the straps, are they tight and secure while gtraveling down the road?

2. Are these boxes condisered dry boxes with some type of rubber seal inside. Just wondering if rain and wheel water spray on a non-dry box does not get inside while o the highway.....appreciate your input and help.

Best regards,

mickrock - I did add the pics from your previous thread into my above response. They are in the attached PDF File but for some reason they do not show unless they are opened.

Thanks again,

The tool boxes are riveted to the frame members -

Big Red - the tool boxes are riveted to the frame member and bumper with heavy duty 3/16" rivets and flat washers from inside the tool boxes. If you look at the bottom pic you will see a rivet popped through the bumper. Since the boxes are made of stainless steel, this works fine. The straps are only an added safeguard.

I drilled small holes in the bottom corners, in case of rain water entry, but after a season of use including rainy travel, no water has entered the boxes. They seal well.

Happy camping!
