Adding a hitch receiver to A122BH

Has anyone thought about adding a hitch receiver to the back of their A122BH or other A frame?

I would love the extra ability to add a bike rack or a extra storage rack and getting someone to weld a receiver onto the back bumper sound logical to me, but I want to know if I'm crazy or if anyone as had success at such an idea.

This will void your FR warranty. For this reason I got a receiver to the front to carry my bikes.

you would definitely want to reinforce the rear bumper. it is not strong enough to bear much weight. I would be worried about weight bouncing around too.

This style hitch could work with a bike rake added to the top and the A frame on the bottom.

The bumper can be best characterised as flimsy. I wouldn't even stand on mine. If you want to take your chances and weld something to the frame underneath, that is another question. If the hitch were strong enough, then all you have to worry about is the trailer balance, being sure to keep above 10% of the total weight on the tongue. And of course, voiding your warranty.

Thank you everyone for your comments. I don't want to void my warranty, so maybe I should go with that dual hitch idea above. I've also seen some people have bike racks on top of their A frame when hauling it down the road.

James, is the front space of your BH taken up with other stuff that can be rearranged to fit inside the trailer?

The front of the BH is mostly taken up with BBQ Pit, Hose Bucket, Porta Potty, Ground Matt, Stabalizer Blocks, Wheel covers, Firewood, ect. Was hoping to be able to attach a cargo carrier or bike rack. Mostly cargo carrier, since front of BH full. Inside of A frame is full of chairs, food, bedding, tent, plates, cups, coffe maker, air mattress, lights extension chords, hoses, and other stuff. I'm basically, looking for good way to store an ice chest or two or bike or two without taking something out of the BH. My truck is already full of people, luggage, fishing rods, telescopes, and other odds and ends needed for camping.

Alot of my dog show friends put a front hitch rack on the front of their trucks/vans to carry equipment such as crates, bikes, coolers. Could your truck handle that option?

Oh yeah, should be no prob! Better than voiding the trailer warranty. I've yet to read about anyone who actually uses the dual carrier, if you get one please give us your thoughts. Ive always wondered about them. I dont have clearance with one, as I carry my dogs in the covered truck bed, dont want to have a production to have to get them out to potty while traveling.

Your TV could take over 950 lbs of tongue weight, I wish I have that, mine is only 350 lbs. You could add a class III receiver that goes over the propane tanks and attach a bike rack or aluminum platform, here is a pic of my TT with the receiver:

My bike rack could carry 3 bikes but you could attach any bike carrier for more bikes, I take my propane tanks out during my trip to be within 350 lbs tongue weight.

If the receiver is high enough, you could install it so that it will be on top of the front platform cage, I could picture another carrier platform in the receiver for 2 layers of storage or bike carrier.

More storage space for your TT, I wish I have the option to do this, maybe my next TV with a higher tongue weight rating.
