That wa a idea I had, have some heating duct material and may try it after checking the grill further,,,hate to stain the side if I can hep it!
We have a reversible cast iron griddle/grill that is the same size as the grate area. I cut off the elevated "bun warmer" part of the grate with bolt cutters. By using the cast iron we don't deal at all with drippings into the grill body itself and the cast iron plate is much easier to clean, typically with just a paper towel and a little elbow grease.
The grill doesn't smell like grease and food when used this way and the cast iron stores inside the closed and locked grill when in transit.
I do take care to leave the door-side window closed when using it and this solves the potential issue of getting greasy smoke into the camper interior.
Those who do not own an Aframe do not understand the logistics of our little campers. Sure with larger campers you do have a windbreak .. but with ours there is little to none, as the back and front roofs slope at 45 degree angle. Add to this the window just above where the RVQ mounts, and if you have a the fantastic fan running it will suck the vapors/smoke right into the Aframe just as a previous Aframe poster reports.
Basically these little RVQ things hard to clean, flare up, and are just a poor idea. This is why you see so many Weber Q 100s and 120s sitting on the picnic tables.

I bought a six foot quick connect gas hose so I can move the grill away from the camper. Seems like common sense to me, but to each his own.
We have a long hose also and if we don't have a table, we hang it on the side of the trailer. No problems either way. The heat does not go to the camper wall. Our wall doesn't even get warm.
