I understand you can remove the keys in your present lock. That is why I suggested a keyed thumb lock, then you can turn it to a locked position. Do a Google search for a keyed thumb lock to take a look at what I am suggesting. Personally I prefer to keep my compartments locked all the time. You may forget it at night and a light fingered Louie could come along a help themselves. Found this on another thread. Check Grainger.com for part # 4LHR3 to see what I mean. Just make sure you order a lock that will be long enough to go through the thickness of the door. I just changed all my compartments to "ACE" locks and needed 1 !/8" long locks or look at "wholesale4inc.com" and search keyed thumb lock. They only have 2 sizes, 5/8" long and 7/8" long. You would have call Grainger to see what lengths they can get after you measure your present locks. Again, check to see if you can remove the key in the unlocked positions, if not you won't gain anything.
