Battery Storage Location

Has anyone tried moving the batteries off the tongue to the front storage area? If so what problems did you encounter? Can it be set up so you can run wiring for Solar Panels and a battery tender? I am getting close to ordering/getting my T12DDST. Just don't like the idea of exposed batteries or chintzy battery boxes.

Why not just upgrade the box?

You will need to vent the storage area or mount a box inside and vent that.

I'm with Ford Idaho on this one. I have a A122TH and while I have a big platform I could locate batteries to, it seems more logical for my needs to leave them in the same location and upgrade the box they are stored in.

Have fun ordering your camper!

Looking for an idea for adding an extra battery to a v lite, there isn't enough room to add an extra battery. Wish they had made them in the propane compartment.

How about a rack to put one over the top of the one you have?

Your storage trunk has a manufacturers stated capacity of 150 lbs, which is supposed to be spread over the entire trunk. Depending on the reason for that rating, exceeding the weight may or may not be a problem if you are relocating the battery. If the reason is tongue weight, then relocating will not over burden the tongue.

OTOH, if the reason is not to over burden the middle of the frame, then you would have to be very careful how much other weight you put in there after dropping in 50-80 lbs of battery.

But not knowing the reason for the rating, everything here is speculation. So call FR to consult with them before putting a battery in the trunk.
