Bike Rack

Has anyone installed a bike rack on the rear bumper? Type? Pics?

If it is a lite wt trailer, only put a bike rack on it if you want the highway cleanup crew to dispense with the bikes, rack and bumper.

I would think you would need to reinforce the rear bumper supports. Someone on the forum did this and posted pics up. The rear bumper is not designed for the weight, which is a shame because it would be nice to have a rear bike rack on the S models.

The rear bumper would collapse if a child stood in the middle. Any bike rack mod would have to be attached underneath the bumper directly to the frame, likely voiding the warranty. I don't think it would upset the trailer balance enough to make the camper unsafe to tow, but make sure you do weights and calculations first.

And for safety sake, cable the rack to the frame separately in case the engineering fails on the highway.

It's your call.

I had no idea the bumper was that light. I think I will leave it off the project list for now. Maybe down the road I will look at some options. Thanks everyone

The only feasible option is to have a tow receiver hitch mounted to the frame. You can either have one welded on or bolted on. e-trailer sells them and then you would simply purchase a bike rack that mounts to a hitch receiver. The advantage is that you can also use the bike rack on your TV if you wish to bring the bikes to another location while at home or on vacation.

Forest River went incredibly cheap on the bumper and it is useless.

Bike Rack

I have seen several people use these:
Buyers Combo Stack Bar

We have one and have used it with our previous camper and it looks like it would work fine with our A122S.

I was thinking about attaching a bike rack to the spare tire. They make some that strap around it.
