Bungee Replacement - Rivet Removal

Greetings Folks!

Have a bit of an esoteric tech question ... Looking to replace the bungees on the A122, and I'm interested to know how to access the bottom end of the lower roof's rivets (where the bungees attach to roof.) Do you have to remove the long strip on the inside of the roof section? I’m a little concerned about how far to drill into those rivets : )

Thanks everyone ... and have a fabulous camping season!

Yayus, this is a fairly easy job to do. You don't have to remove anything on the inside. Have you viewed any of the youtube videos, especially Slim Potatohead's. Just follow his instructions and you shouldn't have a problem. I've replaced mine last year without a problem and I'm not that "mechanically inclined". You could say I know enough to be dangerous.

Thanks much, Ortep! Will check out Mr. Potatohead’s vid. Glad it’s probably not as complicated as I had imagined! [emoji106]

Yayus, if you any questions after viewing the video, don't hesitate to ask more questions. After I had viewed the video, I still had some questions because of how my setup looked. I quickly figured it out though.

Thanks again. Mr. Potato’s Aliner has a slightly different means of attaching the lower roof’s bungees - if I don’t drill too far into the A122’s rivets rivets, should be OK (I think[emoji3]).

You're right, as soon as the drill bit gets thru the rivet the resistance is gone (you're thru). Also, be generous with the chaulking, it's easy to clean up the excess AND you don't want water to be able to seep in thru those points.
