Camco hybrid heat

I installed the CAMCO Hybrid Heat unit on my 2014 a122s, yesterday. It's a kit that lets you add the electric option to your gas WH. This was my second time installing a kit. I did it on a older Jayco a few years ago.

Let me say... not looking for a debate on the safety of a gas WH.. I just like the option of having electric.. With the installation of the Hybrid Heat.. I doubt I will use propane for anything. (unless dry camping.. and that's rare)

Anyone else added electric heat to your gas WH? I think there are other conversion kits called "Hott Rod".. "Lightening Rod".. etc..

Just be aware of Suburbans warning of these add on heating elements.

From the Suburban website:
"Any alterations to a Suburban water heater will void its warranty. This includes add-on electric aftermarket heating elements. There are a number of heating elements being offered. These elements are supplied with different types of thermostats which are mounted in various locations of the water heater. These heating elements can lack critical safety controls. Use of these devices can lead to an out of control heating of the water tank and a catastrophic wet side explosion. The use of these aftermarket heating element devices may result in damage to components or the water heater. When aftermarket heating elements are inserted into the anode rod/drain connection, tank life is shortened by accelerating inner tank corrosion. This will be a non-warrantable situation."

Ok.. I bet Suburban would sell anyone a new electric water heater.. that works pretty much the same way. I'll take my chances.

PLUS. ..If Suburban is like most other RV parts manufacturers.. they would try every way in the world to get out of honoring the warranty anyway. Especially on a 2014 camper.
