Camping along the East Coast of Canada with my A128S

I'm planning to camp along the East Coast of Canada in August with my A128S. I'm going solo and will be using this thread/forum to keep me company. Hopefully I get some input from you guys before, during and after my trip via this thread. I'm looking forward to the adventures I will be experiencing and with your help enjoy it even more. I did the initial planning for each day, 21 of them, using Notes app of my iPod, here is a sample of my plan schedule:

This is the map of National Parks and I'll be going in this order:
- Kouchibouguac
- Prince Edward Island
- Cape Breton Highlands
- Kejimkujik
- Fundy
The first National Park is over 15 hours from home, I plan to go to a private RV campsite in New Brunswick for 2 nights first.

My TV and A128S is all ready for this trip and I can't wait for the start of my trip.

I will start booking my sites next week because they get full easily. I checked some sites I'm going and they are already over 50% booked.
Please post the campsite number if you where there before and highly recommend it plus the places you visited. I will surely go for seafood diet on this trip...

This looks like a terrific trip! Seafood sounds like the way to go, especially on a trip along the coast!
Keep us posted and stay safe.

You should check out some provincial parks while in Nova Scotia. Some of my favourite are Smileys, Graves Island and Rissers. There are others equally nice but I haven't camped at those.

If you are planning any time in Cape Breton and want to see something different, you have to go to the Fortress of Louisbourg, http://www.fortressoflouisbourg.ca/
http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/lhn-nhs/ns/l...urg/index.aspx

It is one of the largest reconstructed historic sites in North America. If you do make it there, the Mira Provincial Park is just 10 minutes before it and just 20 minutes from down town Sydney.

If you would like more info, drop me a msg.

Thanks for pointing out Fortress of Louisbourg and please share more interesting places to visit while traveling the east coast. I'll be 4 days in the north and 4 days in the south side of NS.

I got an ice maker for my travel, I love making smoothies and sometimes the green ones with vegi.

A bit slow making ice but after an hour running, it makes enough for a small glass of smoothies.

I ordered a TripTik from CAA for my destination guide. I have a GPS system but it will be nice to have a hard copy of the maps. They gave me a TourBook, all these are free with my membership.

This is like going back to school learning geography all over again but fun

Anyone there from New Brunswick, please post something interesting about the place.

You're smart to have and use the maps and it's a nice service that CAA included them for you.

A GPS is a great tool (especially when traveling alone) but it is only just so accurate.

When we go anywhere, whether I'm driving or not, I almost always look at the map/atlas before taking off and during breaks along the way.

It's kind of like, previewing a hard copy... (for lack of better description)... "sets it" in my mind's eye on the way roads go along & through a city, around bodies of water etc...

From my last site to home

I just have to program my GPS route to each site. I have to make sure I have a hard copy of the routes just in case my GPS breaks, but I'm bringing 3 GPS capable devices and I have a 3G hotspot for Internet service for backup.

I think I have all the tools and materials needed to get to my sites.

4 more weeks before my trip...count down to my first long voyage with my A128S

When going to PEI there are no cost to go to the Island. They want you to stay so you have to pay to leave. If you enter via the bridge it will be free to cross. You will have to pay at the ferry when leaving.

And it costs more on the ferry than the bridge. I always do the round trip via the ferry first leaving by the bridge.

That Route 1 airplane route that you plan to take across NB. Driver beware; Not the greatest of highways and I use that highway term loosely.

What do you mean not the greatest? What route do you recommend?

Twisty, turny, narrow and rough, unless it has been upgraded recently. I would stick to the TCH if possible and take the smaller highways for sightseeing. That route 1, in particular, was the roughest I've been on. It may have been improved over the years but there is not much there, only wilderness. It will take you through Plaster Rock, the hometown of the worlds biggest outdoor hockey tournament each year.

UPDATE: Just spoke to a friend from that area and he says, there is no improvement, will not afford you a short cut and there are lots of logging trucks. Now, you have to make a deecision.

UPDATE # 2: Take TCH to Moncton and then drive north on 11.

These sites averages over 14 hours drive from Toronto, did you stay in a NB campsite that is closer to Montreal?

Quebec has some nice campgrounds near the TCH . Stayed at different ones but can't remember the names. Stayed at one near Grand Falls in NB but also can't remember the name.

Lol...our memory is not like our computers. I'm posting my activities here and in my computer so years from now I could look back and retrieve the info again. I just have to remember where my computer storage and hopefully this forum is still online...lol

I think I'll change my plan to visit La Mau. NP and then go to Fredericton area.

Any interesting must spot to visit in Quebec?

As you could tell, National Parks are mostly my destination sites.
