Cooktop grates
Has anyone pursued putting grommets in the holes that the stocks top grates go into to secure them more? I know other Rvs come with them standard. I haven't figured out a simple way to keep them from scattering all over underneath the cover yet and thought I'd try grommets.
If you have done this, what size did you use?
If I don't hear from anyone, I'll post back with the size and the results in about a weeks time.

We cook outside, so I haven't used our stove yet. Save that for rainy camping. I just pull mine off and stow them in the towel basket.

Mine came with rubber grommets that the legs of the grate push into. They look to be about 1/4 inch.

no, but we did put a flat piece of wood on top of the grate and that keeps down the rattling

We leave the cover down while traveling and have not had a problem, no grommets on burner grates. Also with shocks on the trailer, it does eliminate the severe bouncing.

Do you have to remove the grommets to use the stove? Seems to me they'd melt if left in place while cooking...? I'd like to do this addition too but am afraid someone would forget to remove them and stink the place up. If they're fine left in place that would be super.

They can stay in while cooking. My cooktop is all scratched from the grates sliding around under the closed lid, these will keep them in place for travel as well as for use.

Guess it must depend on who the manufacturer of your stove was. I thought they ALL came with the rubber grommets installed - I know that the stoves in both the trailers we have owned did. FYI, you can obtain a package of replacement grommets from the parts department at Camping World.

You can usually find them at lowes, home depot etc. That's where we find our replacement ones. RV dealers cost too much for the same thing. Take an old one and just match it up at the hardware store.
