Difficult roof

I'm seriously considering buying a 2014 Rockwood A122S Hardside. It's virtually new, but I find it very difficult to open. Has anyone installed a gas strut lift system on a Hardside to ease opening it? Forrest River sells a part, (10-225 35A) but I have no clear info that it would work to add it into the 2014 Hardside.

Another question: is there anything to lubricate to make lifting the roof easier?
(BTW - I read the earlier post about trouble lifting the A-frame's roof. Just wanted additional ideas.)

roof strut

I bought a 2016 model A122S. It has struts installed from the factory. Works great. I think it would be well worth the cost to add to yours.

If you carry a short step ladder, pushing up is not that hard. I am not that healthy/back issues and I can do it by myself.
