If you have to ask, put'em on. Anything making towing easier and less stressful is good. Anything making your movements safer for you and others on the road is just a good practice. Have fun!

Towing mirrors provide that extra visibility down your side and even a bit around the back. I have always used then on my F150 no matter what I was towing. Units are available specifically for the F150 and they just snap right on to yor existing mirrors and easily snap off for storage. Just love mine

Legal or not legal is not the real question. If you can see better with them get them. Small expense for better visibility.

Based on your current trailer, no. It folds flat and you can see over the top with the center rear-view mirror. Now, if you upgrade to a larger TT that doesn't fold flat, where you cannot see traffic behind you over the top, then yes, you will. Looks like you are good to go.

I agree strongly with this. Maybe some people missed the fact that this is a pop-up we're talking about. I think, for one, they are probably very uncessary in this instance and, two, that you'd have to have really piased off a cop to write you a ticket for towing mirrors on such a small trailer that you can see right over.

We added permanent extendable mirrors to our 2008 F-150. They also make the heated and smoked for multiple year models.

Towing mirrors
Hi folks. Just need to say. What a great site and experience here at Forest River forums. Learned so much from all of you. Been a member now for a few years. Ok getting back to Towing mirrors. I have 201 Ram 1500 Larimie model and me too had 2 small mirrors that when towing were useless. Cant understand these dealers. Ok I bought the Cipa tow mirrors at first. Were great. But wanted something more permanent so I came across a website. www.1aauto.com a little pricey but were perfect for my model. They have excellent customer service that are highly experienced in getting you the correct unit to purchase. They also have installation videos that any only who can use a simple tool can install these. My total installation of both mirrors took only 1 hr and for being a Barber for 39 yrs. thats great. Check it out. Hope this helps someone. Happy holidays. Jim M

oldgrayghost, my husband is a Texas State Trooper and he states you do not need mirror extensions, however, you do need to be able to see clearly to the rear of your trailer to maneuver safely. Therefore, if you cannot clearly see to the rear of the towed unit you may need extensions. Hope this helps. Take care and safe travels.

Oldgrayghost here’s what the Texas law states: “A motor vehicle, including a motor vehicle used to tow another motor vehicle, shall be equipped with a mirror located to reflect to the operator a view of the highway for a distance of at least 200 feet from the rear of the vehicle”

Sir, you have misstated Texas Law. Here's an exact quote with my comments.
"A motor vehicle, including a motor vehicle used to tow another vehicle, must be equipped with a mirror located to reflect to the driver a view of the highway for a distance of at least 200 feet from the rear of the vehicle."
My comments: 1) "equipped with 'a' mirror" ... one mirror. 2) "reflect to the driver" ... assuming this mean driver's side of vehicle? 3) "200 feet from rear of vehicle" ... the motor vehicle, the towing vehicle. 4) These Laws are made up in Austin ... that's a "hole" 'nother Texas.

many thanks to all who answered this post. i am comfortable that i am legal with my current mirror set up (windshield rear view mirror gives me a full view of the road behind my a-frame when towing), but i will add towing mirrors to give me a better view from either side for lane changes, etc.

CnJ88—I am sorry you were offended with what I (female) stated at Tx State Law but what I typed what straight out of the Texas Criminal and Traffic Law book Section 547.602. However all I was attempting to do was help this gentleman and his concern. However it was written it got the point across and stated the same thing. Have a great day and smile.

As noted the mirrors are helpful however texas(s) could care less. I see this set up almost daily in texas. I've seen them pass police, ride next to them, etc without any issues. You will be fine. Oh and make sure you have good insurance since about 50% of the people here don't bother with insurance.
