Does anyone know if back-up lights are standard on the A213HW?

Can't seem to find any info on this. Husband is already preparing for this mod when we pick ours up in a few weeks, but maybe he doesn't have to worry about it?

First question: are your tow vehicle back-up lights wired to pin 7 of the connector? Many tow vehicles do not bother wiring back-up lights.

I have yet to see any A-frames (or any ball hitch trailers) with back-up lights installed at the factory. The only real need/use for them would be backing into a campsite at night. For that situation, I would rather have some manually operated lights on the back of the A-frame rather than lights turned on/off by my transmission. IMHO, the manually operated lights would be more useful - like at night around the campsite.

just my thoughts

My 1988 Coleman Sequoia popup had factory backup lights, but I've never seen any other PUP/trailer that had them.

Seriously doubt your A frame has them.

You'll need to do a mod.

It will be something like this. Tap the TV back up lights and connect to the unused pin on the connector. Run a wire from the corresponding pin and the ground on the trailer side connector to the new lights secured on the back of the camper. Use LED lights on the A Frame to minimise the chance of blowing the TV fuse. Point them slightly out to the sides so you can see the edges of where you are backing too. And a bit down so they don't blind other campers,

I've not done this myself.

One thing to be aware of. If your state has TT inspections, and you have B/U lights they have to work. If there are no B/U lights no issue. Not discouraging B/U lights but once you commit, they have to work. Go for LEDs they provide much more light at much less current.
