Extension to Reach Fan/Vent on A-Frame
I think that I've seen a mod that addresses this on this forum (but could not find it)?
My wife's arms are so short that they just barely reach her hands. Because of this, she can't reach the overhead fan on our A128s.
I've seen where some intelligent person took a piece of plastic pipe and made an extension to reach and turn the fan off/on (as well a crank the vent door knob).
If anyone has done this, what size pipe did you buy? Any tips?
I would appreciate any help on this as I am lazy and don't want to be the only one who controls the "fan".

I got a small hard plastic step stool at Walmart that the DW uses and it works just fine and best of all, she is happy with it.

Is this what you were thinking of? It's a 2" PVC plumbing cap on a stick. I don't remember whether I stole this idea from the FR forums or from the Aliner/Chalet forum. The stick needs to be longer than the one I used. 18" should be good.

Im kinda a folding stool guy myself too. Being of small stature it not only helps me to open/unlock and lock the fan, im thinking it was a pretty good investment, it also serves as assist to open and close the camper if we have jacked up the passenger side for leveling and as a bevie holder when around the campfire. However hamguy .. i do like that attachment you did.

Those folding stools are handy. I liked the first one so much that I got another one just because I could! So I leave one at home and carry the other with us in the camper.

Just used a 3' pc of 1" pvc and notched the end so it fit the crank handle.

This is what I make. Wife loves it
My wife is 5'2" and doesn't like using the fold up step stools that are out there. Since I wood carve for a hobby I made an "arm-extender" and she loves it.
I made another one for sale. And it fits and looks great.

My paper towel cardboard center works pretty good too as an arm extender.

I made one and it does not work on my HW194 unit since it is not a straight up connect as I have the stove below and have to use at an angle to reach and it does not make good connection with the knob and slips off. So I will stay with my folding stool for now. Thanks for the info.

I have a sink in my way, that's why I made the handle 32" long on my opening tool. It is a simple matter to reach over the sink and get a straight shot to the fan opening knob.

I purchased this vent knob that is attached to a dowel (or in my case, a repurposed broomstick). It works wonderfully for reaching up to open the vent.
