Fall Camping Starts Tomorrow

Been a long hot summer here in Houston...too hot to camp for this old man. Wife and I will be leaving tomorrow for a short 2 day stay at Brazos Bend State Park and then the last weekend of this month I'll be there with a group from my Dulcimer Group to play music all weekend long.

Hopefully will get more camping trips in November and December.

Houston hot & wet go hand and hand this time of year in western TX can be some great weather for camping. Have only been to big bend state park (motorcycle trip, Gage hotel in Marathon) but loved it. Our weather is turning to winter camping.

Come to Houston and we'll help you get a good winter's worth of camping in it! Then we can visit in the summer for those long northern days.

Brazos Bend is pretty awesome, so much wildlife, ie. alligators and the observatory is sweet.

We generally go at least once or so a year. Missed last year due to all the flooding.

We're in Lampasas. You're right, bring on the cool camping weather. It's rare you wanna make a campfire down here.

Just got back from putting camper in storage. Had a great time...the weather co-operated...got a little warm in the early evening but nothing serious....I always have a fan with me. Lots of campers out....park not filled but quite a few camping. Only saw 3 deer.....it being the middle of deer season I suppose they are hiding.

Can't wait till the last weekend of the month when I go back by myself for 3 days with a group.

I love fall camping. It can get pretty windy here but it's great camping weather, not too hot or cold.

I hear ya! I'm not too far away (N Arkansas), and it's just to dern hot and humid to camp comfortably July-mid October.

I'm anxiously awaiting some cooler camping weather. Leaving today for the lake for some camping/fishing, and we're still in the mid- 80s during the day and 60s at night. I could easily go swimming still if I wanted.

I'd have to say my favorite camping months in this state are Nov, Dec, Mar, Apr, and May!

I know exactly how you feel! We have not gone camping since July .... too hot and humid here in Florida. Just this week the humidity has dropped and we have experienced cooler evenings. In six days we are taking our grandchildren camping at Lake Manatee State Park. Can hardly wait. Love fall and winter camping in Florida!

You do not have an Aframe trailer as I avoid the real windy areas since you have to be very careful when opening and closing the top without losing control of it. I always pay attention to the wind direction when I camp and I usually have to raise or lower in the mornings here on the California coast as the wind is less. I have also used ropes toss over the top to keep it from flying off.
