First Trip in the New Camper

Got a new A122S about a month ago and finally got out to use it. We live in Conifer, Colorado and took a trip out to the Crow Valley Recreation Area in the Pawnee National Grasslands near Fort Collins. It was a tad too cold and snowy to head for the high country, so we tried camping on the plains, which was something new to us.

First night (Friday last) we arrived before they had reopened the area post gov shutdown. So we got to camp on the asphalt outside the locked gate, across from somebody’s house. The trailer worked out great. It was a little tight with 4 people and 2 dogs, but we were nice and cozy in there.

We did some exploring on Saturday, and when we got back to the rec area we found the gate was open. No one else had arrived to camp yet, so we grabbed the best campsite and set up.

We had a great night in a beautiful spot.

I am quite impressed with this camper. It is ridiculously easy to set up and take down. Tows like a dream. Keeps us warm and cozy. We have always had old junky used campers before, so it's a real treat to have everything work exactly as it should. Couldn't be happier with this unit.

I think this is the forum's first "in action" pic of a unit with the new colors. At least it's the first one I've seen. It looks darn good. I'm glad the outing went well.

So glad your trip went well. Sounds like it was cozy. It is nice to see another family with an A-frame. I have two boys and we find that our A-frame is comfy and totally works especially when the weather is nice and we can eat outside. Enjoy!

Man I love that new color scheme. Forrest River will take over the Aframe market in 3 years. Just look at what they have done since 2011. Chalet and CNW better wake up if they want to stay in the market. In talking with dealers, I found many Aliner dealers are taking on other lines due to backlogs on new units and the lack of parts on used units. Per Camper World in Tallahassee, FR has parts all across the country for their AFrame campers. I am looking at selling my 05 Aliner and moving to a FR product. The price for new is great also.

Hi Randy. Glad to see you joined here too. Several on this forum are members of both groups. And some are former Aliner or Chalet owners. Welcome! Per your comments, I'd hate to see CNW and Chalet drop out of the market, but I don't see them competing in either price or standard equipment. They do have the edge on lighter weight units, but I think some of their larger units weigh about what a Forest River Aframe does. Anyway, glad to have you aboard. As an experienced Aframe owner you'll have a lot to share.

And Tamara, you should add your new motorcycle to your signature area...

Starcraft Comet by Jayco is getting into the Aframe market as well. I just read it in the latest rv dealer magazine.

Love the pics, Dan!! Your trailer is pretty darn sharp! I really dig that door!

Thanks Lee, for reminding me - I added my little bike to my sig! I sure am glad I got it. Interestingly the XTs seem to have a loyal cult following, kinda like our A-Frames! LOL
