Good article. The state parks that we've stayed in, along the panhandle of Florida, were all very nice.

Suggest get a copy of Florida Camping from www.moon.com

It rates both pvt & state parks 1-10 scale with VERY detailed info. I live in FL and use this a lot!

Good luck...

Now someone has gone and done it AGAIN!

Not that I don't sympathize a little, but now all the snowbirds have more information on some of my favorite campgrounds in Florida. I live here and would like to enjoy "my state parks", but usually can't during the winter because of all the snowbirds. And don't give me "use them during the summer"... why don't those snowbirds just stay through the summer too (Oh, that's right, its too dang hot )

Guess I'll just have to muscle my way in and hope you booked your sites and have to bail... so that I too can enjoy a nice cool day camping in "my state parks".

And the list didn't include any parks along the I4 corridor.

Cooks...
As a resident (SW FL) I have to agree. When the snowbirds are here (T-giving thru Easter) it is VERY difficult to get a reservation at many SPs... esp. weekends.

This is b/c of snowbirds staying weeks at a time per park. We've actually had to make reservations as much as 12 months in advance at some of the more popular parks.

IMHO, I would not care how long folks stay as long as there sites available; but the more popular the park, the harder it is for FL residents to camp in their home state during the winter when the weather is mild...

Odd how the people in the Pocono mountains feel the same way in the summer time, maybe there should be a "LAW"
