Fresh water holding tank

So, is there a way to prevent the fresh water holding tank from filling? I just want the sink to run off city water, but the tank fills when city water is turned on. Have a 2017 a192hw.

Thanks.

There should be a check valve in the line to the tank to prevent that. You shouldn't have to do anything.

Hopefully someone with more knowledge than i will post with a solution.

The check valve at the water pump is not seated properly. It can happen ant time you use the fw pump. Can be caused by manufacturing debris in the valve, running water pump while using city water (even for a moment) or because it feels like it (think gremlins).

With water in the fw tank,
1) turn off the city water.
2) open a faucet.
3) turn on water pump and let some water run.
4) turn off faucet and let the pump run until it stops.
5) repeat step 4 a couple of times.
6) turn off faucet. when water pump stops, turn off the pump.
7) turn on city water and drain fresh water tank.

And for the outside chance that Scrapper's instructions don't fix the problem, you'll need a new check valve in your pump. Or add a new external check valve.

To save yourself some time in the future, there is a search function on the forums. This issue comes up about twice a week, so there should be about a zillion existing discussions.

I did search, using the advanced option and there really aren’t any threads specific to my question.

Hmm. There's tons here under "fresh water tank overflowing." Maybe you just didn't use the right words? Many use "overflowing" because that's the first indication people have of the problem.

A "Holding tank" is for waste water. This may be confusing your search for this nearly daily topic.

And the cause of the overflow was water leaking past pump diaphragm, through pump & into tank. Pump replaced.
