furnace wont ignite

camping this weekend with lows around 40 , we used the heat pump which workrd great but : I figured I'd try the furnace as it'll be getting below the heat pump temp of 30 next month . We have only had the A128s since june so no need to try it out . I turned the thermostst on furnace and turned up the temp to 76 the unit started to run - ran for about a minute then shut down (yes the gas is on) , retryed several times with the same result and no heat . I did find an off and on switch on the side of the furnace (was in on position ) switched to off the furnace cycled but no heat ,switched back to on and same result ? I am confused and can find no direct shut off to the unit . the owners manual is useless and the installation manual didn't shed any light . I can hear what I'm guessing is the igniter firing but not sure . Thank you

In the spring it takes me 6 or 7 try's to get furnace going.
There's probably quite a bit of air in the line.

Like Turbs eluded to, I'd try it several more times before giving up.

Do you have a good high flame on the stove?

I'd also check the stove flame when the furnace is trying to light, just to make sure it's not a regulator problem.

There are at least 2 safety, shut off on the heater that maybe giving you a problems.
1 There is a small light weight vane in the air flow path that tell the heater, the fan is working.
2 There is a temp sensor that looks for heat. There is a igniter to light the gas. you should be able to hear it, clicking.
As other have said the easy way to check the gas is light the stove.

After several fail attempts, the controller shuts down to prevent propane flowing when not lit. You need to shut the thermostat off ( not just down) to reset. As mentioned, run stove for a minute or two then try again.

thanks for all the great tips ,I won't be back to try them for a couple weeks . What is the electrical on/off switch do that is on the side of the furnace ,it is accesable through a hole above and to the right of the gas line ? ,and should it be in on or off ?

I did not know what switch you were talking about. I went looking and found it, if it is the one in the heater. There was an accesable hole that I could see it. I have no idea what it does but mine is in the "ON" position. The on was push in.

Perhaps you could try setting the temp higher to 80. 76 is a comfortable temp, furnace might not have felt it needed to run if air temp was near 76.
