Great Basin National Park

Any tips on driving US 50 from Carson City to Baker Nevada? Towing an A122BH behind a 2014 Honda Pilot. Love my a-frame! Staying at Whispering Elms Campground in Baker. Any suggestions are welcome.

I've taken 50 from Reno to Ely. Quiet, pretty drive. Look for all the names spelled out along the highway as you travel. Fuel stops are spread out, so when in doubt fuel up.

It's not called the loneliest highway for nothing. You will pretty much have that road to yourself.

Quick side trip, just north of Ely is a town called McGill. The hand carved bar in the McGill club has a fascinating history, and I encourage you to pop in and check it out. It's pretty neat.

Great Basin National Park has a cave that is good. We did it last year.

We had a wonderful trip to Baker and Great Basin NP. We stayed down in Baker but the park has many pull throughs and looked like a beautiful place to camp. We are still trying out all our 'hook-ups' and appliances so wanted to stay where there was power and water (warranty is almost up!). One small glitch-both trailer tail light bulbs blew out (wonderful folks at Precision Auto Repair in Ely if you ever are in that area and need auto or rv help). No one can figure out why. Missed the hand carved bar unfortunately. Did see the fantastic caves and hiked the lakes trail and up to the Bristlecone Pine grove. Click image for larger version
