Has anyone used a good mod to keep the drawer, under the

microwave, closed while traveling? I tried Velcro. Did not work.

The Microwave should NEVER open while traveling. It must have a positive lock door to keep microwaves from leaving the cooking area when it is running.

If it is opening without unlatching it, your microwave is defective AND dangerous. DO NOT USE IT until it is repaired or replaced!

Herk, he said the *drawer* under the microwave.

OP, have you thought about a child safety latch?

Not sure of the geometry of the under microwave drawer. I posted this drawer 'safety latch' mod a while ago: http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...vel-28053.html
Has worked well for us.

I used a small hook lock works about 60/40 depends on the road conditions. I'm still looking at a better solution. There is a picture of the mod in my mod topic post.

That was my thought as well (install childproof latch) Should be a 15 min mod at most. Parts are at Lowes or HD.

Would have responded sooner but was having too much fun with Herk's post

The child safety latch is the way to go! Makes it so you have to pull the drawer out a little so you can reach in with a finger and depress a lever to un latch it to allow the drawer to open fully...

There are some that you can actually clip out of the way when you don't want the safety latch engaged. My in-laws have it for when junior is at their house so that he doesn't clear 2 cabinets and get under the sink. They clip it out of the way when we are NOT there and engage it when we get there.

I'd think the same idea could be used - disable it while you're camping and enable it when you go to leave.

Just don't let Herk help you install it if he's been drinking. You never know what he'll do to your microwave...

I'm so glad I'm late reading this thread because I thought it was about the microwave too, and I don't have the excuse of "Jack."
