Quoting a customer an additional 2k over list price just smacks of them not wanting to deal with it, or pressuring the customer into an on lot purchase they can get full payment on immediately.
Just sayin...

Yarome, with respect, why would you argue an element of the business that you are obviously unfamiliar with or understand dealer practice? It is not good business for any dealer of the "little campers" to order them one at a time and have them delivered that way unless they are local to the factory and transport themselves. Otherwise they don't because of the delivery costs. Transport costs vary by distance due to number of required rests the drivers must take, mileage, toll, and whether or not there is a return load. There is little to no mix-and-matching what's on a trailer too unless the particular lines are right next door.
I can give you factual numbers from three identical TTs from FR all delivered between Aug 1 and Sept 9, 2014 using the same transport company: $305 to PA dealer, $1069 to SC dealer, $1381 to Florida dealer. So, if a little camper dealer could pay that for a single unit or the same for several units, the dealer is going several units.
My entire point to the OP is to understand for the type of camper, the OP should expect to wait for a custom build till there's a shipment, or accept there will be a premium. The OP never said where he or she is free, but $2K delivery cost is not askew as you are trying to lead the OP.
Now that said, I fully agree that the dealer didn't want to fuss with a one-off, especially when they mentioned maybe in a spring shipment for the simple reason there was no enthusiasm to help the OP with a purchase. That says to me their primary camper sales aren't at all geared to the little campers. For a broad line dealer, there is just too little profit to be bothered with doing more than selling what they take in for standard inventory. Another dealer is definitely in order!
OP, good luck and happy camping!
