"Idiot's Guide" to Rockwood A-Frames?
Has anyone ever put together an "Idiot's Guide" to Rockwood A-Frames (specifically A122s)? Particularly a YouTube video? A recent posting that has since been deleted sparked the thought that a lot of A-Framers are like me. We didn't get a walk-through at a dealership. We are the third owners of our 2011 A122 and love it. We bought from an individual 9 months ago and didn't get an extensive explanation of how to use all the features from them although they did include the manuals. The manual for the camper itself was for Rockwood canvas pop ups. We've learned to use most of the features that appeal to us and bypassed others (we don't cook inside) through this forum, through a couple of Facebook groups, through YouTube and by asking individuals when we go camping. We've added a bicycle rack and, after much deliberation, went with an inflatable instead of hard-sided kayak. Thanks to all who are so helpful to us newcomers.

No has that I am aware of, I am mechanical and figure out or fix things myself and help my younger brother when he needs it as he bought a used A-frame also.
The people on this site are a wealth of knowledge and you can post your problems and get recommendations on most any problem. And some include Great pictures to assist.

Why is it that the tech doing the PDI usually says its winterized and they don’t want to demonstrate the water system for you.

These trailers are not built to really withstand the movement of rough roads or vibrations that they get exposed to on trips and I am always having to Fix or replace fallen screws and so far I have to repair in 3 years of use.
Water pump
Water heater
sink faucet
BBQ
Microwave
fridge
and replace top cover bungee cords.
Both the Microwave table and shower stall I have had to tighten screws and reinforced the bathroom unit.
I have the original manuals on most of my installed devices but I have better luck getting the models numbers off each item and finding out info online.

For those buying through a dealer use your cell phone to take photos as you go through the PDI. If you can take videos as the PDI person shows you how to operate things will be much better. You will be surprised how handy they will come in later.
You can do the same if you are buying from a private party but if the previous owner doesn't know how to use a feature you can take it to the nearest dealer or mobile RV repair and ask them for assistance.

Rockwood and Flagstaff are twin brands.
No difference between the two except outside graphics and interior design patterns/colors.
Made on the same assembly line.

Just ask questions and you'll get it figured out. There is more maintenance on campers than many people seem to think there should be, so keeping them up requires a lot of attention.
Like abdiver, I find screws on the floor regularly and have to hunt down where they came from. With only partial success. And stuff breaks all to often. Having the camper is about the memories you make while camping not the memories of the time you spend doing maintenance.

The "Idiot's Guide to Rockwood A-Frames” is right here, on this forum.
You can ask any question you like, whether you think it is stupid or not, and you will get good answers from members who do not think your question is stupid (or not). Your question and the answers that follow will certainly help somebody else one day.
You can also search the forum and usually find where others have asked the same questions you have.

Ha! I didn't even get a quarter of that info when I picked up mine!
I've figured out most everything though with the exception of the refrigerator. Mine is not automatic so I need to switch everything from the outside of the camper. Not a big deal however there is no labeling on the dials to tell you which way is colder (my fridge at home uses a lower number for colder temps) and the manual doesn't state which way is which either.
The guy in the video states that the CD and App contain more detailed info which I found to be the opposite as well as the app being mostly useless, The CD has a basic setup video for a generic pop up which does not apply to the A-Frames.
I found out about the sink drain the first time I used it as none of those are labeled either.
It's a good thing I did a shake down run close by the home to work out the lack of knowledge and kinks. I should probably put together a Video of what I learned as a new RV owner to the forum here for the benefit of us dummies!

My current A Frame and my previous A Frame where bought from the same dealer and I can say that the walk thru I received on both A Frames was thorough and detailed and the tech answered all my questions. The walk thru lasted about 30 minutes and all components where operated and shown to me how to operate. True, after owning a A Frame, I already knew about everything and how things worked. Not much change in 6 years.
