Jack stand, Blocks, what?

Seems I'm always looking for some dodad or twiddlygig for my AFRAME (2014 Rockwood a122s). Especially in the wintertime. Anyway.. my camper has one of those little foot plates on the jack. Like this:

I would like to have a jack stand like this:

What do you use under your jack? and why?

Personally I have five different types of trailers but I wound prefer the top one its more stable and stays put, the lower one I would loose somewhere along the line, Or I would bump the tongue & it would fall off the cone........

On a previous camper.. 22 foot travel trailer.. i used the cone type stand. It was pretty stable.. The jack actually rests down in the top of the cone.. maybe an inch or so. With the weight of the tongue on the stand.. I don't think it would ever tip over. I have read that some people had them crack .. when trying to support a BIG camper. I don't think I would use it for an RV weighing much more than 5000 pounds or so.

My main objective is to reduce the amount of length needed to extend the jack.. these cones are about 8.5 inches tall.

I constructed a Wood support that can be rotated (3) ways to give different Height levels as Not all Campsites are Level! It is light weight and Very strong with Composite contact areas! Youroo!! Pic. when I take one!

I cut a 2 x 12 treated into 4 or 5 11 1/2" lengths and screwed together with 3" drywall screws to make a big block

I would prefer this flip jack over the plastic cone.

A32deuce ...Using one like the top one, but 9 inches tall? Do you remove it while traveling?

And caper... does this flip jack stay attached while towing?

I am in clinton, tn.. will your flip jack work on a 2014 rockwood a122s? I think the jack shaft is the same as the rockwood popup.

I use a 8" by 10" piece of 1/2" plywood. Cheap, doesn't push into the ground.

Yes I remove it while traveling. Is great for setting up WD hitch. A lot less cranking!

jack block

While I use all yellow plastic blocks for the corner jacks, I must be old school when it comes to the front jack.
I have used an old creosoted block of wood, that is 10x10 by 14 inches. I know that sounds heavy, but it is surprisingly light. I toss it in the truck bed, when we pull off. It never soaks up water or begun to deteriorate, and I have had is sitting in snow and mud for almost 15 years.
On a particularly slanted area, I can put yellow blocks on top of the big block, and keep stacking.
BTW, why would anyone care how far to extend the jack, when you can stack up to it? If nothing else, get some more yellow blocks.

I have the cone style and have never had an issue. Very stable and the height eliminates a lot of cranking. My TT is around 4000#.

I've made these, wanted something light, easy to carry several, so size can be what ever you want. Test pieces were made of osb, switched to plywood. 2" foam between 1/2" plywood, 3" sleeve of plastic schedule 40 in center and glued together. Click image for larger version

I mentioned I used a piece of 1/2" plywood. I forgot to mention I installed one of these:
The Ultimate Jack | A-Frame Trailer Jack at its FInest!
It allows me to let the jack down and open the tail gate of the pickup without it banging into the top of the jack. Also, when setting up camp, it takes only a few turns of the jack to get the trailer off the hitch.
