Yup. It's an evil trick us forum members play on each other. Once your locks are just mine we then go around to where you are camping and move your storage items all around. You think you are losing your mind.

No, they are not alike. Just like you get a house with 2 or more doors and all locks match but not your neighbors. There are thousands of possible combinations. No need to worry.

Thanks. Just wanted to make sure as the CH751 are all keyed alike...

And we are talking about these:

Compartment Door Key Lock 7/8" #00165

Right?

Oh, actually NO, not mine. I have the kind that this thread started with. http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...cks-41517.html With this lock I have it can be locked open so that you can use the latch feature to hold the door closed but not locked. I like that feature.

What is the diameter for the thumb turn keyed cam locks? 7/8 th?The prices on the site have changed since this post first started. Not $7.83, now $10.29 at Wholesale4Inc.
Would you use them again if you had to change them out?

I would absolutely purchase the locks again if they ever need to be replaced. So far they work fantastic! They've made life so easy and made me realize how such a tiny change was really one of the best changes I could've done for #1 convenience factor my A-Frame!

So I am an older lady who does repair stuff around the house. Are they fairly easy to install/ punch out the old ones? And were they 7/8 in diameter?

Yes, the locks were the bigger ones. Super easy to install. To avoid any and all confusion in what locks to get, please just call Bill at the number I provided at the start of this thread. He knows what I purchased and all the other people who also bought one. Tell him you want the same one as the lady (Tamara) who started the "run" on his keyed thumb locks.

I can't day enough good things about the locks and his assistance. Be sure to tell him you want them keyed the same. I've no doubt the piece has changed, it's been a couple years since I made that first post. LOL - and check it out, the locks show no sign of wear.... yeehaw!

They are 7/8 and fit right in the old holes. It's a little tricky getting the tiny ball bearings and springs together but everyone appears to be able to do it. I used a bunch of grease to help hold things in place while assembling and the grease helps keep it freely moving after it gets together and goes through the weather for a couple of months. I suggest you buy an extra kit for lost parts or whatever. I totally agree with "I would absolutely purchase the locks again if they ever need to be replaced. So far they work fantastic! Having to use a key every time I wanted into the storage was really inconvenient. These make it so nice. My only wish is that it came with a double sided key so you didn't have to look too hard for which way to put the key in. I put a little mark on my lock showing which way the teeth of the key points so it isn't that big a deal.

My replacement thumb key locks froze up a couple months after installation. When I pulled it apart, it looked like there was crystals on it. A little sewing machine oil loosened it up and all is well. Love these locks.

Mrs Gilroy, you will thank yourself many to Es over once you get them installed on your unit.

I have noticed the newer units now come with two locks, one traditional storage lock and an additional thumb turn. I wasn't willing to drill another hole in my trailer door so I opted to replace the lock with the ones described in this thread. Newer A-Frame model owners may not find it necessary to change locks.

They come with some instructions. And I think there is some advice in this thread.

It's one of those things where the 1st one takes 10-15 minutes and then the others 1 or 2.

Instructions

Here's what you're looking for. Don't drop those spring rivets. Difficult to find on the ground. If you play around with the installation, you can get all locks to turn the same direction, so at a glance, you can tell if it's in the lock position, or not. Good luck.

I'm looking at the wholesale4inc website and 4 of the FORT-LTT078 K026 locking thumb locks with shipping are $54.07. I will of course call Bill to make sure I get the right ones. I'm curious though that although this thread is almost 4 years old and it looks like many users who have commented here have bought these locks, there is not one review of this product on the wholesale4inc website! What's up with that?

Southco CH751 Keys (Pack of 10) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001562UII..._iEl.yb94XES60

How about this? Buy a bunch of keys and leave one in each lock while camping.

I'm sure you'll quickly discover how cool doing this one small change will be. I'm 6 seasons into using my trailer, and these locks have held up wonderfully for 5 of them!
