Considering this mod, but
I found that the worst scenario was when the shower lock refused to lock.
Sometimes the locking lever will become "blocked" by the shower hose.
To get around that, I turn the lock 45 degrees(half way) before closing the door, and then close the door, and turn it to close.
It always works that way, because the locking lever pushes the hose back and out of the way to enable the locking lever to work.
Still considering the new ones...

It's definitely a sweet upgrade. I see you didn't use the existing pull tab with the new locks. Mind if I ask why?

There was only one pull tab on the back compartment. And the only reason I didn't keep is that I didn't think about it!!!! Now that you've mentioned it, I may have to mod my mod and put the pull back on! Thanks planting the seed!! :-)

Since this topic came up in another thread, I thought I'd bump this discussion up to current to answer Don's questions about a keyed thumb lock...

Thanks Handbuilder, that's exactly what I want. I noticed that they won't ship to Canada. I will need to work on that. What I need is a US address. In the past, I would have items shipped to a US address when on vacation, at the one address, for a week.

It's been a year since I installed these locks and now I have one that stays locked (can't turn the thumb lock) no matter which way I turn the key. Two others that I have to wiggle the key to get it to unlock. They do not seem to last...
I'm now looking into these:
Compartment Door Key Lock 7/8" #00165
Does anyone have any experience with them?

What have you been lubing them with?

I haven't. Didn't think I needed to. I'm a West Coast camper, no snow and have had barely any rain this list year.
How often should these be lubed? (And what should I lube them with?)

West coast, like near the Pacific ocean and all that fine salt water?....
Given the state they are in I would use something like this.

Once you get them free something like this.

I can only say that the storage door lock on my trailer seem to need a little more maintenance than the entry door does.
I have been using WD-40 silicone, does a fair job but the CH 751 locks are a real pain.

I packed mine with a healthy dose of grease when they started to get finicky. Also sprayed lock lubricant, graphite, into the keyhole. No more issues.

Well, after lubing didn't help, I decided to take it apart. Turns out I was missing a couple of the magic tiny parts (one steel ball and one spring cap). I must have dropped those parts upon initial installation. I guess I was lucky it worked as long as it did.
The remaining locks turned smoother once I added a little graphite.

Thanks for the inspiration to look into it rather than just giving up on it!

Lorne, do you think you can get them keyed alike, if you order more than one? I noticed on their site, nothing was mentioned about this option.
