Keyed thumb locks

Well, they finally arrived! It took almost a month for the company to special or them & they werent cheap (27- incl shipping for two) but for me, the wait was so worth NOT drilling another hole in the outside storage door!

I wanted the convenience of being able to close the outside storage doors without having to use a key everytime.

I got them from Wholesale 4 Inc (Wholesale 4 Inc)
they were $7.48 each, shipping was $11.35 (OUCH)
Call Bill (503) 238-8605, Portland Oregon
I am glad I called to verify my order online because they had noted it was the non keyed item that clicked for the order. I recommend phoning them personally to ensure it is exactly what you want.

I have not been able to find those exact lock online. Grainger and some others have similar locks, but the descriptions are unclear. Particularly on the depth. For right now, I installed a non keyed latch on my outside shower. Doing that eliminates the need to carry the stupid separate key for that one lock and lets others access the shower without me having to set it up first. I am not concerned about someone stealing my shower hose, however the thought that it might vibrate open on the road makes me want to get a lock.

Hi Tom, I feel your pain with regard to finding these locks. Seems everywhere I went (retail) and called (from online companies) told me not available.

If you call Bill at the number above, he can get them for you & you can verify the exact depths and such (I asked him to make sure I had matching keys for both locks). He was great to work with! I forwarned him that other A-Framers might call because I posted to the FR forum. He said he has them & hopes others wont have to wait like I did.

I definitely love their convenience and you're right - no chance of them vibrating open with them locked in place. I was so focused on the baggage doors, I never thought about the shower door...that'll prob be down the road - I dont use the trailer shower so much that it annoys me like the baggage locks did. Haha

Lool forward to hearing about your new purchase!

Ordered 4 keyed thumb locks (keyed alike) today from Bill. He said I would have my locks in three business days. My fingers are crossed.

I told Bill I received my information, in regard to the locks, from this site. Told him I would post a site upgrade to help promote business for him. He remembered you Handbuilder.

Is this the one?

7/8" Locking Thumb Turn Cam Lock, KA, Stainless Steel Finish - Wholesale 4 Inc

7/8" Locking Thumb Turn Cam Lock, KA, Stainless Steel Finish

Fort Lock:FORT-LTT078 K026

Sku didn't match exactly and price has gone up... so I wanted to check before ordering. Would love to not need a key every time I have to get into a cubby and yet have the security of it being locked as we travel down the road. Why only two? I have three locked cubbies. Would this also work on the shower door? Then I could knock two keys down to one...

Thanks for your help.

Hi Carla - The photo certainly seems like the one, but call Bill to confirm & ask questions about the actual product. As I said in my earlier post, I was glad I did because the website actually ordered me the non keyed locks.

I got two because the storage door locks are the same size (the shower lock is diff size) . Unlike the storge compartments, I hardly use the outdoor shower so its let open and unlocked the whole trip, if so.

Received my locks today. Not bad! Order on Friday, arrive on Monday. Installed them Monday afternoon. No one told me you needed to download an instruction sheet to assemble the locks. Please don't loose the little parts.

I am looking at purchasing these at Grainger, they are local to me and I would not have to pay shipping.

To those that have already ordered and received their locks, did they come packaged with a straight cam and an offset cam?

Thanks for reply

Every lock I've seen comes with both a flat cam and an offset cam in the package. The description on the Grainger web site should tell you about the ones you are looking at.

No they dont come with instructions. I just took note of how I removed orignal and replaced with keyed ones....saved DH from doing it.

Rockwood and Flagstaff are identical sisters, differing only in interior colors & exterior decals. Yea, they will fit.

Tent2TT- I called Grainger - they were first company I contacted. Glad you have better luck than me. Grainger told me they did not have KEYED locking thumb turns available, only thumb turns with no keyed lock. Glad to hear you dont have to have them shipped in.

Yes, mine came with straight and offset cam.
