ledge on A frame 126

Is the ledge on the inside back of the A frame 126, over the side of the bed when its down, structural. I have a memory foam pad on the bed and leave it down always, and would like the extra 4 inches of bed space and want to take it off. But thought I check here first. Thanks, Teresa

The driver side wall has a big black stopper at the peak that rest on the top of the cabinet next to the door when it is in the down position. This would be your lowest point. Lower that wall and measure to the bed. At least in my A-Frame.

The shelf is about 4 or 5 inches it is behind the couch, if the bed is folded. I think it is there to support the mattress when folded for to be a couch

I believe this is the shelf Teresat is referring to. If so I do not believe this is structural just a support for back of couch. My A124 has nothing across back of trailer on the inside in this area.

Did you buy the camper new? We have a 2013 T12SC which has a board under the back side of the bed that flips up and locks into place to support the dinette cushions - no shelf. So it looks like an add-on to me from someone who slept alone, maybe. We also leave the dinette made up into the bed configuration all the time.

My 2012 Flagstaff has a shelf like this too. It was stock with the sofa/gaucho A-Frame model.

Teresa, it would be helpful of you added your A-Frame model and year in your signature line. What year is your A126?

This is an earlier model of an a126 which had the pull out bed and not the gaucho. The pull out bed has the ledge/shelf as pictured in previous post that supports backrest when in couch position and ledge/shelf remains when pulled out into a bed. The gaucho couch/bed has the backrest for the couch which drops down for a full bed as stated by another poster. According to NADA rv guide this model was only made in 2011.

My wife & I have an A-126. We have a four inch memory foam mattress on top of the seating cushions. The memory foam comes right up under the shelf your referring to. We kept the shelf in place and use it as storage shelving. We installed a cargo net from one end to the other. It works out perfectly. The shelf itself only juts out perhaps 4 inches from the wall. It was never a consideration to remove the shelf & it never interfered with the sleeping arrangements.
