Lets talk camp heaters..

Any one use theses? Since we live in Arizona we like to camp in the winter also.. But don't want to be inside all the time when it's cold. Any suggestions?

Maybe a little ceramic heater. Shouldn't take much to heat the camper in your avitar.

A propane chiminea? Unless those are illegal, then maybe a blanket and a picture of a fire. We have a chimenea, and it puts out respectable heat. A little big to drag camping, but we don't have fire restrictions generally.

You often see the big patio heaters at outside restaurants and bars. Lowes carries a tabletop version of that heater, that uses those 1-lb green propane bottles.

We also like our Camco Little Red Campfire propane campfire. We bought ours on Amazon, but it is also available at Camping world and probably other places. Buy the adaptor that permits you to hook it to a 20# propane tank. It puts out a decent amount of heat. They also sell a small grill that sits above the fire. While they say it is for making coffee, I don't see why you couldn't use a frying pan over the fire...might take a while, though.

Good luck!

Try Mr. heater. They have a number of portable heaters. I'm looking at the mr. heater Buddy. Check this website.. http://www.mrheater.com/ProductFamily.aspx?catid=41

mr buddy heaters have a habit of blowing out when outside .. as they are basically designed to heat an indoor area .... you could use it tho under an awning ... or in outdoor confined areas ... but you have to be away from the wind ...

if you plan to use this heater exclusively outdoors ..i would suggest a sunflower heater ... basically it works on the same principal as buddy, pictured above .. but is mush larger and can be used with larger propane tanks .. like a 5/10 ect. It will not blow out as it doesnt have a pilot like the buddy heater ... and puts out about alot of heat ... there must be some on Flea Bay ... there always is ... http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-MR-HEATE...-/171144926308

I have one of these heaters and they work well...inside. I have not used it outside but I would not be surprised if the wind blows out the safety pilot. You can buy an adapter to use a full size tank on this unit (when being used outside).

They are very good heaters but the small tanks don't last long.

For outdoor only use, there are a bunch of radiant heaters that will be cheaper. Check out the Mr. Heater Tank Top Heater page.

Then go to your local sporting goods store or Home Depot and buy one or something like it. For indoor use, I would get a Wave 3 heater because it is a catalytic heater where the Mr Heater is not.

What do you consider "cold?" For instance...when I got up this morning it was 2 degrees. We've camped in the high 20's....in a tent. Our water was frozen in the morning. I suggest long underwear, a fur-lined bomber hat, wool socks in Sorel boots, down mittens and hand warmers. I've tailgated at Lambeau Field at -6 degrees and sat on a metal seat for the game. There isn't much we northern women can't handle. LOL.

Holy cow you are much tougher than me!
But I've camped in 112 degrees in the desert in a tent with 4 kids and no AC... It's a dry heat and Arizona women like it hot! LOL!
