about your Alaska trip

I was wondering what month you were on the top of the world highway. I am trying to decide when to travel. Mid June or early July.

20 days during summer 2015

We spent 21 days and 20 nights on the road from North Carolina to western Montana and back in July-August 2015. One night was spent in a cabin at an off-the-grid resort in Montana (Elk Lake Lodge-we highly recommend it!) and the rest were spent in the A-frame. Excepting the first 3 nights and the last 3 nights, on the way out and back, all nights were spent boondocking in Montana and Wyoming.

Newbie to modern-era small RV camping, but grew up in the 1960s with a Cox tent camper w/ parents and 3 sisters. Yes, a little tight in there.

We drove the TOWH on June 10. No problems. If I remember correctly, the road is not maintained from mid-October thru April. When winter hits, it is basically closed.
