Looking at 2012 FR Rockwood A122BH a frame...

Hello..new to camping and new to campers. Thought about buying a pop up but walked on a a frame and like it much better even tho losing room. SO...

Looking at a 2012 Rockwood A122BH a frame.. Dealer asking $8995 plus 6 percent sales tax, title (208.50) and dealer prep $199. Unit is in great shape (at least to me). Of course, this has no warranty. What do you think? What is a good price on one of these units. I have looked online at 2015 units that are 3 hrs away from me for asking price of $11980 (don't know there title or prep fees) plus I don't know what kind of warranty comes with these units. Any help out there?

In my experience that title fees should be the same as long as allthe dealers are in the same state. Title fees are charged by the state to register the vehicle.

The 2015 models, I am assuming, are brand-new so they should come with a factory warranty. So, you're basically talking about a 3k difference between brand new with warranty and 3 years old with no warranty. If it were me, I'd go with the new one because of the warranty and because I like new things

Don't forget- you can negotiate prices just like when you purchase a vehicle.

I do understand that I can negotiate prices but I am familiar with negotiating a car price but not a camper. What should we go by? I have looked at nadaguides.com but was wondering if anyone on here had an opinion on the asking price or what was a good price? Heck does anyone have any opinions on this model? Thanks so much for the responses.

I'm also a new camper and I've never been in an A-Frame. I think I'd like it better than a pop-up. The floor plan looks like it has pretty much everything you'd need other than a bathroom.

When we bought ours last week, I just told them a price I was willing to pay and what I wanted thrown in. I am unaware of any "resource" for RV's but someone else might know much more.

With very few comparables for used AFrame campers, I'd look at used pop ups in the area and estimate the relative value difference based on the MRSP of the new current models. At least it gives you something concrete to use in requesting a lower price. $3000 is a savings of 20%-25% off new, that's enough off to be attractive to me if its in excellent shape. Better still ask if the dealer will give you a few weeks warranty to correct things other than minor defects.

The other thing you need to determine is if you are capable of making repairs when things stop working. Things like replacing the converter or the water heater or some carpentry. If your answer is no, then the value of the warranty is much greater. Compared to Pups, Aframes are mechanically simpler because they don't have the complicated rood lifting mechanism.

So they called and offered $7995 plus taxes, title and dealer prep which comes to like $8900. I counter offered $8500 out the door with installation of brake box. You think that is a crazy never gonna happen price? I guess all they can say is no. My husband thinks I am crazy. I hope it is ok to talk about this on this site. I am just so new to dealing with campers.

That's a good price. I just bought a 2012 A128 and it cost me $10.4k out the door. Maybe I didn't negotiate hard enough? If you like it, jump on it!

I offered 40% less the manufacturer list price. We settled with just under 29% off list price plus the screen room, a larger battery, full propane tanks and chocks. Spouse did not involve himself in the negotiation but happily accompanied me to pick it up. Lol

I figured you can always negotiate up but once you make your offer, you can't negotiate below it. The worse they can do is say no. I also let a couple days go by in between my initial offer. Once the bottom price line was determined, that is when I went for add on and upgrades. Hee.

Looks like we are going to be the owners of a Rockwood A122BH. We are just waiting for financing to be finalized. We are already looking into a camping spot for next weekend!!! We figure we should stay close to home for our first trip out. Wish us luck!

Congrats on the camper!

Also owning a 2012 A122 and enjoying it greatly!

You can read posts and find some mods you might want to do, but overall, these are solid campers with setup convenience at best. Enjoy!

I paid $9300 plus tax and dealer prep for a 2015 T12RB with a brake controller and full propane tanks, but it was mid December and they weren't selling anything. They were asking $11,999 "on sale". By the way, this forum is great! You guys have helped me with everything I need for my water system and a really neat leveler. Got everything from amazon.

Wow kinnikinnick.... That sounds like an awesome price!!! What do you mean by handbuilders glamping ideas? We are STILL waiting for financing but just as long as APR is good, we should have it by next weekend!! I have been looking at reviews of surrounding campgrounds!
