Lubrication?

I'm wondering what folks are using to lubricate the gasket that is supposed to seal the place where the top meets the bottom of the roof when the camper is folded down. I've also noted that there is a slight sag in the rear roof and when the camper is folded down there is a little space in the middle, where the front roof meets the rear and water can get inside. Has anyone else had this happen, and have you done anything about it?

On my popup I use spray silicone on the bulb gasket, in fact on all rubber gaskets and door seals on everything, cars included. Cannot comment on the space, sounds like an adjustment is needed.

Read the warped roof panel post below. There are pics of a somewhat common issue. Mine required roof replacement.

Love70sFords: I couldn't find any link or pictures for what you're describing.

This is what the rep told me to use, 303 (30324) Rubber Seal Protectant and Conditioner for Weather Seals, you can find it on Amazon. Silicone may make it look pretty but it actually does more damage over time.

Depends on the silicone. Water based would be OK but petroleum based not so much. GM actually recommends silicone for weatherstrips on their vehicles according to the owner's manual.
Some people also recommend dielectric grease for seals.

Yes GM recommends silicone on its weather stripping but it's there silicone emoltion that you buy from them. If you use spray silicone it can get into your oxygen senders and coat them. Can be a expensive mistake. I use the silicone emoltion on the weatherstripping on mu 128s every spring and fall

Did you mean oxygen "sensors"?

Bottom line is that silicone can be used but it is important to use the right type. GM's would work fine but not necessarily the only one. If you google the use of silicone on seals and weatherstrips there is much information on this topic.

Yes I meant sensors. But as per countless service bulletins from both gm,ford and Chrysler in my shop we don't use silicone. But it is your choice for shure

The dealer I bought my A122 at installed additional piece of rubberized weather seal on the upper panels lip. If you look at other manufacturers they have it already.

Lubrication

Lots of good suggestions to my original question and I appreciate them. The 303 sounds good, and the suggestion about adding a piece of weather strip to the upper roof lip sounds workable also. Many thanks!
