mystified in Missouri/Dealer Needed

We are on our first outing in the new 2017 a 192 HW. We have had a leak m the passenger side of the trailer in the storage compartment that opens with a key. we have an air conditioning cool cat problem where the water is dripping from under the vent and not in the tubes. it looks like there's a whole bunch of missing screws at the bottom of the vent. One of our bumpers fell off at the top of the door to protect it from scratching the cabinet. And the right latch in the back wall took three people to put it together. And here I thought these were supposed to be better than a liners. Right now we are very disappointed in this purchase. Not sure where to go for warranty work since we purchase this unit in Illinois.

Edit: The site team has merged two like threads by the OP. Thread titles were combined as shown.

Greatblue7,

You can look up on the FR website and see where the closest Rockwood dealer is in relationship to you.

I have called several dealers in my area today. Many are Forest River representatives but do not service the A-Frame trailers. I am waiting for a reply from one in North County of St. Louis. Thanks for the suggestion.

That is why you buy local. From a dealer that will service it. FR says this right on there web site and in the sales brochures.

That being said you could call FR and ask if independent tech could do the repairs. What exactly is wrong?

I have personally called 9 dealers and none will work on it because a.) I did not purchase it from them or b.) they don't do pop-ups. This is very discouraging.
It would help to know what dealers you contacted in MO and your general Location

Yes, you have discovered an industry wide problem, with independent dealers. Evidently there is not a good enough profit margin on warranty work for some dealers to consider doing it on non customers RV's. Either that or it could be that it ties there money up for awhile....or both.

I know as a tire dealer, when doing factory warranties, they will only reimburse us a prorated rate, and this usually does not include the labor to mount and balance (which we are expected to charge the customer for). We either have to give that service away (even though it's not our fault for a faulty tire) or incur the wrath of an angry customer, already upset that their tire has problems (again not our fault because we didn't manufacture the tire).

The manufacturers then do not actually pay us real money, but give us a credit towards our purchases with them, so it ties up our money for awhile. Warranty work for us, can be a big money losing deal, which we hopefully can kind of make up for it on the original profit we made in selling to or retaining a customer for future sales.

This is why you may find RV dealers very reluctant to accept warranty work on RV's they didn't sell originally...or don't feel that doing such will gain a future customer sale for the same individual.

You may can see if FR will authorize service from a non-dealer, like a mobile RV specialist or such.

I don't see any sarcastic, etc. response from B&B.

But if you look on the last page of your brochure, you'll see the recommendation to buy local.

I think the best advice is to call FR and see if they'd authorize an independent repair service.

Is it just my browser that is causing me to only see two letter response from greatblue7 The dealer in Boise told me straight out they didn't like to work on units not purchased at their store. With at said they did warranty my microwave when I carried it in so that all that they need to do was the paperwork.

I'm lost here. I guess I've been blocked by Greatblue, because I see nothing in his post whatsoever but "xx", and the title. The rest of you are responding, so he must have said more.

I don't need to interject into the thread, just wondering why I only see 'xx'.

I think she edited it herself.

Hopefully she'll find someone to help her get her RV repaired.

She is obviously frustrated and understandably so. I went through a similar situation. My wife and I wanted a Sabre because it was the only thing that checked all of the boxes on both of our lists of wants and needs. There aren't any dealers in our state that sell Sabres so we bought one 11 hours away. Of course the selling dealer told us that warranty work could be performed by any Forest River dealer which technically is true. Unfortunately the reality is that most dealers don't want anything do do with it. We lucked out and found one after lots of searching. Hopefully the OP can get some sort of resolution. Knowing what I know now I would never buy another camper again. ALL of these companies are in bed together and they ALL suck. Nobody should have to go through what these people put their customers through just to get what they paid good money for.

It's ridiculous that FR dealers don't service FR products. Good thing Ford and GM don't operate like that.
