New A124 Owner Here!

Hello! Just picked up my 2013 A124 this Saturday at Tom Raper in Richmond Indiana. Just wanted to introduce myself.
I have van camped 1 night in my life! So I am looking forward to this a lot!
My husband and I enjoy doing outdoor things--riding bikes, canoeing, trail hikes. Also we have 3 little dogs. Two of them are agility athletes so I am hoping to be able to have the camper overnight at trials and be able to do that on my own.

Saturday was a bit of a debacle (with a personal family emergency happening and then a big mix up at the dealer)--so we got off to a bad start. Also apparently I have no idea how to back up!

Anyways--I look forward to learning more from you all and participating in the conversation!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your 2013 A124. Little tip for backing up - start with your vehicle and camper straight. Put your hand at the bottom of the steering wheel. Move your hand/steering wheel in the direction you want the back end of the camper to go. A good place to practice this might be a school parking lot on a Saturday. Don't worry, you'll get it.

Welcome Girlbuffalo1

I think you will have many great adventures in your A124! I take the A Frame to AKC dog shows by myself...sometimes a show buddy will bunk with me. My husband has less worries with me towing to the shows across statelines with this trailer versus my previous travel trailer. It is so easy to set up, just takes practice a few times to achieve the rythym and routine of establishing comfort zone of setting yourself up once you arrive on the grounds.

I like when my spouse and I camp together - the trailer is just right for the two of us. He gives me pointers for my next show. I find I over think backing up and surprisingly, I can actually do it fairly well when I am all alone and "have" to. LOL

Look forward to seeing pictures of your new baby.

We echo the welcome and hope you have as much fun as we have with your A-framer. BTW, our son and his wife live in West Lafayette. He works for Hewlett-Packard and she's a grad student at Purdue. You might run into them at KD's Coffee sometime.

Make yourself practice the parking, and remember we all started off bad at first. These trailers are pretty easy though. Just kick your husband out of the vehicle when your first learning. That takes some of the pressure off. I have a few small traffic cones I keep handy when I need to mark an obstacle. That seems to help, too.
Happy Camping!

I have an A124 also. Two of my favorite things... Bathroom and shower... After a long day there's nothing like a hot shower. In the middle of the night, it's nice not to have to make an outdoor trek through snakes, holes, mud, storms etc. Feel free to ask me any questions.

:-)

Hello, We bought our A124 from Tom Raper in Richmond last week. We've "camped" in the yard but this weekend we're heading out to a local state park here in Ohio. After 13 years of a popup, we're very happy to have a solid roof, a hot shower & a bathroom. Happy camping

Hi and welcome!

I bought m Flagstaff 12SC (same layout as the A124) last summer and I love it. As a single mom with a young son, showering, etc became too hard in campgrounds facilities. We love this unit and wouldn't trade it for anything. It's so much easier with the shower combo and no more midnight treks.

Enjoy your camper....looking forward to hearing from you. The people here are great and have a wealth of knowledge ):
