New Aliner Ranger - fan / AC questions
So The model I have didnt have the AC .. they said they could order it for 500 bucks so I decided to pass on that ....
It does however have one of those nifty "Fantastic Fans" in the ceiling.
Anyone have some personal experience with this fan?
2nd .. if it is too hot .. are portable air conditioners an option? A lot less then 500 bucks !
Thanks all !
Cheers !

I have a buddy with an older ALiner Classic. He uses a standard window unit. He used dryer vent hoses to fashion air return and supply lines that fit in the window on the drivers side. The AC unit sits on the ground tucked under the camper.
Personally I think I would spring for a factory installed AC or use the smallest floor standing AC. Unit I cod find.

just a question, if you don't mind.
why are you asking questions about a Aliner, on a Forest River owner's forum, since it's not made by Forest River?
there's already a great Aliner owner's forum on the web.
http://alinerownersclub.org/
not that you aren't welcome and everyone here is friendly and helpful but just asking.

I think the Forest River A-frame campers are uncannily similar to Aliners and Chalets, so other than some details of manufacture it seems that our hardside units are more alike than perhaps other types of camping units. I'm a member of the Aliner forum as well as this one, and the overlap in questions, concerns, and solutions is very high. I confess I've stolen--oops I mean borrowed--a number of ideas from folks there.

Yep, the ALiner forum is great. And our units are very similar.

well, just thought it strange that a new A-liner owner would come here, when they could get answers from other A-liner owners on their forum.
but didn't know that they shared so much in common. have seen the FR A-frames but never seen a A-liner.

Yeah, they're so weirdly similar that I've wondered if FR waited until Aliner patents ran out before introducing their A-frame lines. I do think FR made some improvements to the design, though. A few former Aliner owners are now FR hardside owners on this forum. A few of us have installed a thingy called a high wind kit on our A-frames that was designed to fit Aliners...perfect fit.

As an ex Aliner, I find this forum much easier to read and search. If I hadn't owned a couple of Aliners and now the Rockwood, I'd be inclined to think they were different models of the same manufacturer.
And..."he" is not here...he he he

The a liner forum, essentially and old school mailing list using yahoo groups is user unfriendly, given the popularity of a frames in this forum and it's ease if use it's no wonder people are flocking here. It's nearly time to split the A-frames off from Popup tents in this forum and give them their own space.

Yes, the fans are great! We've used ours on most nights, versus the A/C, because the air is fresher and there is less wear and tear on the A/C unit.
Of course temperatures here in Alabama will dictate how often we use the fan exclusively.
