New owner could use some help.....

We have only had our A Frame out twice and it is currently stored in our garage. It has started making a "chirping" type noise/alert/alarm. We have no idea what is is for...... and the manuals are not much help! We do have it hooked up to power to try to avoid any alarms for low power on anything and to have it ready to use at any time.

Would love help if you know why this is happening!!

Thx!

Likely the smoke detector which is battery powered just like in a house. The CO2 detector will also chirp if the main 12v battery gets low.

Definitely sounds like the smoke detector battery. Every spring the storage lot I used to use sounded like it had a cricket infestation....

We have had that alarm go off before when we were not connected to power but this one is not as "loud". It is more of a "chirp". (The CO2 detector was much louder when it went off and stopped as soon as it was plugged into power)

I originally thought it was coming from a battery tender on our motorcycles but when my husband checked it was coming from the camper.

If there are no flashing lights on the LP and CO detector, just a solid green indicator light, then it is probably smoke detector battery. Like others I believe it is the smoke alarm battery but check those lights on the LP/CO detector to verify.

I pull the batteries out of everything - smoke detector, digital thermostat and remote controls - at the end of the season and put new ones in in the Spring. I also pull the main 12V deep cycle at the end of the season, store it in my basement and recharge if it drops to 12.4V over the winter. With the main battery disconnected, the CO detector will shut off.

Not to be critical but it is a CO detector{carbon monoxide} not a CO2 detector(carbon dioxide). Just sayin!

Every winter I put the 9V battery from the detector on the kitchen counter. I reinstall it when we start camping again. This keeps me from forgetting about it and being awakened in the middle of the night with those annoying chirps.

They must program them to never begin chirping during daylight hours, but only beginning at midnight. Ive NEVER had one start chirping during the day, not in my house or my camper!

Great idea. And you're right about nighttime only. Wonder how they do that.
