New T12RB

We just purchased a T12RB haven't camped yet first trip is planed for Texas Renaissance festival opening weekend in Oct. So far we've just set it up in the drive way to get used to it. Much more modern and bigger than the 83 Shedland pup we had before. Ilm very impressed with it so far and have all ready picked good pointers from the forum like pre-running the furnace. I thought I read were one of the AC plugs near the AC panel is a converter to the battery for charging cell phones, computers etc. but now I can't find the post. Can someone confirm that?

Brian99R has a new A122 and in his post about first impressions, he said his cd player has a usb connection... maybe that was what you read?

Our A126 does not have a DC jack for charging phones, etc or powering items off of the battery. The AC outlets are live with shore power only.

Our A128s did not have a 12v plug (accessory receptacle).

I added one to the microwave cabinet. I tapped into the power going to the little night light. This receptacle allows me to charge the phones, eBook readers, run a small car vacuum cleaner, and read the leftover battery voltage I just used with a plugin Camping World voltage checker. The cost of the receptacle with all need wire and connectors was much less that $20.

I've wondered why Forest River thought the receptacle was unnecessary?!

I have wondered the same thing, no 12 outlet makes no sense at all. I hadn't thought about tapping power by the radio. I think a 12 v receptacle is in my near future.

It would be nice if there were at least one 12v outlet in the camper stock, in either of those two locations.

I never thought to check to see if the radio USB had enough to recharge anything, but in theory if should be able to handle a phone or other small device. Probably not an ipad or newer tablet, though.

I myself added two 12V outlets to my A122BH - one below the bench next to the furnace, the other next to the fire extinguisher in the Microwave cabinet. I also added a dual USB charging plug in the microwave rack right above the 12v outlet.

I ran a new 12ga wire for this rather than tap into something and risk blowing a fuse. Here's my wiring diagram I used:

DGrissom and ThunderRoad, could you share with us the type of connector you installed in the cabinet(s)? ... Was it the 'cigarette lighter'-type?

These are the two I got from Amazon:

The USB charger does have a slight phantom power draw (most-likley from the small green LED on it). I think I read that someone measured it at .005a or something else really low. If you're paranoid about phantom draws, you may want to install a switch with it.

Thanks to everyone that replied. I'm thinking my best bet will be to install one above the night light there should be more than enough room where the cable connection is. That also would seem to make sense since you can then just set you phone, ebook, etc on the micro cabnet to charge over night.
