Here is the official tale of woe for my camper. Straight from Forest River.

It was made some weeks ago and sat at the factory, waiting for a trailer to come back in from the road because there is always a shortage of trailers in the spring. Once the trailer arrived and loaded with campers, it was moved to the shipping company staging lot to wait on a driver, because there is always a shortage of drivers in the spring.

While sitting on the lot the bad weather stuck in the east and the DOT issued a number of high wind advisories that slowed down trucks on the road. Because as we know by now, there is always a shortage of good weather in the spring?

So my camper is still sitting on the trailer in the shippers lot among al the other backlogged trailers, waiting on a driver. But we have no idea when it will actually ship because neither Forest River nor the shipping company cannot prioritize loads but must let each driver pick up whatever load he feel like hauling that day. Because as we all know there is always a shortage of priorities in the shipping industry?

Disclosure: The above may not be just be straight from FR but includes some commentary on my part. And perhaps a bit of sarcasm.

When I got my A128S last August, it was easy to make a deal. It looks like A-Frame is not a hot item in my area. I use this site to a dealer close to my home to match it and the price last year was 11k: I'm surprise that it is still available http://www.terrystrailerservice.ca/node/17 This includes the screen room too

Hope you get yours soon so that you could share the experiences with it in here.

Good Luck!

Pooneil - How frustrating is that! Sorry the latest news is not exciting news. I think you should name your trailer "Heinz".....its certainly fitting at this point. Poor Heinz, waiting to be united with your family....err....are you old enough to remember the old Heinz ketchup commercials that sang "Anticipa-a-a-tion is making you wait..." LOL
Crossing my fingers your trailer is on the road soon!!

Maybe "Carly," instead.

Stiff upper lip and all that rot. Right?

Well I hope you have better luck with Topper's than I have. I'll be picking my camper up tomorrow without the warranty work done on it after about 7 weeks I think. I can't wait any longer as I have a trip coming up soon. The service department gave me the runaround as well. Last week it was waiting on parts. This week there's a couple of units ahead of it and ours hasn't even been into the shop. I guess I'll just do the work myself. I certainly won't be going back to Topper's for anything.

Maybe get them to include free stuff with your deal to lessen your frustration...

BTW what extra stuff were included in your deal? Good price?

Carly is cute name! haha
Have you considered pulling out from dealer and having work done at an authorized service center? For example, my dealer is 2 hrs and a huge mountain pass away. There are a couple RV dealers who are local and authorized for warranty service work 30 min away. I asked if I could use them for 'emergency' unplanned service issues & they said had problem, they submit paperwork & get compensated by FR whether purchased from them or not.

Nothing really extra, but I was comfortable with the price.

I will be going over it in detail.

The guy from Forest River assured me Toppers was the best dealer they have in town. But we all know there is a shortage of....in the RV business.

It's here! Its really here! Scheduled to pick up day after tomorrow at 1:00PM. So I am taking that afternoon off work to go get it.

I am getting out my fine toothed comb. My list includes;
A/C
Furnace
Water Pump
Water Heater
All lights
Look everywhere for water infiltration particularly around the windows
Check seams and caulking
Check floor for weak spots
Make sure screen room setup is complete and correct

Any suggestions on what else to look for?

Look in our file library- there's a great "PDI" checklist that covers most everything.

I'll add. In case it's not on your list- try ALL of the functions on your DVD/radio player (surround sound, if equipped).

I made a quick search and found a link to a good list on the FR forum. It is for big Trailers but most of it is aplicuable to Aframes.

Thanks. That should be enough to get me through the process.

This is a great one and the one I followed for my demo/walk through. I have been very happy to find few and only little problems.

Check the battery age and condition. My water pump recycles every after several minutes, I don't think that is normal, check this while you are checking the other parts and listen if it recycles like mine. I will have mine repair under warranty at the end of this season. For now, I just turn it off when not in use.

I turned on my iPod recording during the PDI and took pictures of some of the parts. I do review what I taped for instructions I got from the PDI.

Good Luck and Have Fun!

Dont forget to take notes about the fridge (the controls are outside the trailer) Make sure you know where your fuses are located.. may be different than your previous trailer. My trailer takes a deep socket to tighten the lugs, my friend's A-Frame doesnt...check what yours needs The water filter under the sink is funky...I personally feel there is a trick to removing it...I want to break the damn thing right off, it frustrates me that much! I leave it for DH to deal with & ask him if its ok & working. haha Take pictures and do tell how youre liling it when it finally commes home.....so is your trailer dubbed "Carly"? I think it always will be, in my.mind!
