Not in Missouri

I have been looking but can’t find a single Forest River hard-side a-frame anywhere in Missouri. I guess I’ll have to do what a lot of others are doing and travel a distance to get one. You would think that with the growing popularity of these units that FR would fill in the voids a little. Need to sell my 2008 Rockwood Premier 1907 pup first. It’s almost here, Camping Season.

they should have them in stock, for probably the best price you will find. We mapped this place and were looking hard at a unit there (went a different direction.) Did not look like too bad a drive.

I know in KC all the FR dealers told me that they refused to carry or sell pop-ups at all. the Jayco dealer was the only one with them at the show, and sold every one he had on the floor there.

There are two dealers in Iowa, one in Guthrie Center, which is in south central Iowa, the other in Council Bluffs, southwest Iowa. We got great prices and service from the one in Guthrie Center: http://www.bobandjosrv.com/. They've sold truckload after truckload of them, they said.

Thanks thehamguy1. The one in Guthrie is one that I had not heard of. It's now on my list to check.

I would be careful with the one in Guthrie. Not very good service. Bought my last TT from them never again.

Scotts Trailers in Tulsa has the hard side A frames. If you talk to Herb Taylor there tell him FROG Bob from Brokem Arrow sent you.

one advantage to buying out of state is that it saves you some money on sales tax.

Not for me, it didn't. I bought my RV in Pennsylvania and live in Maryland. My loan company collected sales tax as part of the loan and sent the appropriate amount to MD. The titling company in MD made sure it was all handled before giving me tags and doing the paperwork when I brought it home.

Not true in Iowa either... if I bought a camper in Missouri and toted back to Iowa when I go to register it for plates at the county treasure they collect sales tax then.

Missouri Supreme Court ruled last year that counties cannot collect sales tax on out of state purchases.

In Oklahoma we pay "excise" tax when we go to register and get plates. Not a sales tax as such.....but based on MSRP plus the tag fee.

We live in Missouri and bought our fiver right after this ruling. We ended up buying in Iowa so our sales tax was about half the amount. The only stipulation is if you have a local use tax on out of state purchases already voted in by your county or city. Here in Buchanan county we have one on the ballot to vote for on April 2. This will replace the revenue lost by this ruling but will also apply to Internet And mail purchases.
