optional extended warranty from forest river

all new a-frame owners should be aware, an extended warranty is available from forest river for $100. it provides lifetime warranty protection, but is non-transferrable. your dealer may have not known to tell you about it when they were trying to sell you their extended warranty.

cheers,
-rob

The 2nd year FR factory warranty is brought up at least once a week on the Forum.
There are hundreds of threads on it and info on it is located in the Library.
There are quite a few threads about how the popup/A-frame warranty differs from the standard one.
Also it's not available for Coachmen or Shasta foldable trailers.

Its not a 2nd year warranty . ..its lifetime....this is why it has been brought up so often. Please read the posts.

I'm new here. Thank you for the information on the lifetime warranty. I'll be buying a new Flagstaff in the coming weeks and this was good to know.

When I bought my camper, the dealer's closer, the guy in front of whom you sign all the papers, told me the dealership was required by FR to present the paperwork for the lifetime warranty to buyers. If the closer does not show it to a buyer, the form should be included in the package of other papers such as the camper manual and manual and warranty information on appliances.

IIRC, the dealer does not take the money. Rather the buyer must register and pay directly to FR. Nominally within a few weeks of purchase or some similar short period of time. But FR apparently views the time requirement as an encouragement to register promptly rather than a strict deadline.

It is my understanding the cost and coverage with the various models. You should confirm your options directly with FR, the dealer may not know.

Most dealers don't want you to know.
They'd rather sell you an aftermarket warranty for thousands of $$ and line their pockets.

FR Extended Warranty

I purchased the extended warranty for $99 when I bought my 2015 Rockwood 5th wheel and it was only for one year. Is the lifetime something new?

The 'lifetime' warranty is for A-frame type pop-ups units and is on the frame and a few other components. Nothing has changed. Been this way for a while.

EDIT:

Someone posted an actual copy of the warranty previously.
Here is that photo.

The discussion applies to the OPs AFrame camper and others in this sub-forum.

I just got back my signed 2nd year warranty from forest river on the cottage. 250 bucks for the extra year only. Sent it in 30 days after purchase. After that I should know of any real issues and have decided to self insure if no serious problems show up in the first year.

Im not understanding how this is so hard to.. well...to understand.

I would suggest a reorganization in the forum......to prevent so much misinformation.

It's because the posts show up in "Recent Discussions" on the right hand sidebar. People click on the link then don't look for context beyond the discussion.

I wonder if it's possible to exclude A-Frame sub-forum posts from the Recent Discussion. I have found some posts from the big boys helpful when the info is also applicable to our little guys.

In the immortal words of Steve Martin, "well, excuuuuuse me!" Where does it say, anywhere in here, limited to a frame pop ups? I do think your suggestions to reorganize this forum is not to be taken lightly. Trying to find something on a topic that just shows up as a thread starter is ridiculous in the general discussion area. Now campers are campers. Really not that much difference in the overall systems. And im not being cantankerous either. But when you have a general discussion based on a thread, and you have someone say oops, you bad, passed gas in public, that does not help.

If you look at the forum site flow in the heading, these posts are in the A-frame section. Many people do not bother to look. At the same, the smaller A-frames - the ones that are more typically bought by newbies - do not have the same complexity or systems that a larger trailer has.

For example, a new A-frame owner comes on the forum asking about winterization. His A-frame has 2 water fixtures - an inside sink and an outside shower, and that's it. He needs to know how to winterize and bypass the water heater, but discussions of toilets and anti-freeze inlet valves and gray and black tanks don't make any sense. And a newbie doesn't necessarily realize he doesn't have to worry about these things because he doesn't have them.

The same applies to fridges - non-high wall A-frames and PUPs have continuous run fridges with no thermostatic control, no automatic start, and no DC load when on propane. And there is no battery cutoff switch unless the owner knows to install one.

These differences make instructions from large trailer owners very confusing, especially to a newbie who barely knows what is installed, but came looking to the forum for answers and help.

That is exactly why I make a note when the difference is applicable. We need to help people that are in a very niche market for campers and the best way to do this is to address the question as directly as possible.
______

It is easy on the FR forum to misunderstand the area one is posting in. So for those that get called out, if we do mention that a post is not applicable it is with the intention of keeping the information relevant to the questioner and the others with similar A-Frame campers.
