We will be there in about 4 weeks. We did it last year and are going to do it again on our trip back from Corpus Christi. We are going to hit Caprock Canyons State Park going down, this will be a new park for us. Texas has great parks.

Thanks for sharing. I think we are stopping in Amarillo for a few days in April. I literally just talked to a friend about Palo Duro today. I'm excited to check it out.

It will hold solid.

That was today's task. I also reinforced the loose shelf the oven sits on and found the missing bumper for one of the feet int he back of the cabinet.

Then there was the cleaning the fridge after the beer can broke on the way there.

Ready for the next trip, Mother Neff State Park.

There was a monster toy hauler and his 350 truck parked in the pull through site just across from us. I suspect he made a few corners using both lanes of the road.

While not strictly necessary for me, my truck was in first gear coming down that road.

Thanks for sharing your trip, Tom! Sounds like an awesome time! Are you in an organized camp group or just a bunch of friends meeting and hanging out?

I've been the lead organizer for the Houston Area Trails and More meetup Group for about a year. We hike every weekend and do camping trips once per month, or so. But we are really more just a gathering of like minded hikers with a web site that an organized group.

It seems no one mentioned the Longhorn Steer (T-Bone, Brisket & Omelet) that were at the gate or the river crossings. So, I drove through the river crossings a little faster than you are supposed to for the kids. SPLASH!

The longhorns are in a pen near the entrance. The place was very dry when we were there so no water crossing for us.
