Possible issue with the Cool Cat - or is this normal?

Just got back from our first trip of the year. I have one concern about the cool cat. The first night it seemed normal - the fan comes on, the compressor kicks in, after cooling, the compressor kicks out, fan blows a little longer then turns off. But, the second day/night, the fan came on, the compressor kicked in, after cooling, the compressor kicked out BUT the fan never went off. No matter how high we set the thermostat, the fan would not go off. Also, noticed again, on this trip the a/c did not drain much out the little tube. It did continue cooling the unit just fine. Anyone else had any issues like this. Is this normal? This is my first camper with a cool cat.

Also - as a side note, my warranty runs out in a couple weeks. So, if this is an issue I need to act quickly.

Thanks for all your help!

Just a thought...
Did you check your fan settings? Our 2012 A128s has fan settings of low, high, and auto. We keep our fan on low and it runs continuously at night to keep the fan cycling from waking us at night.

Knew I could count of my fellow A-framers. Dgrissom is right. I didn't even know you could adjust the fan speed. But that was my issue. The fan had been adjusted to high instead of auto. Best folks around are on this forum. A big thanks.

David

I am going to have to reread my manual as I didn't see the section on the fan settings. Are those settings (Low, Auto, High) applicable to both "Heat Pump" & "Cool" settings?

Thanks

Randy

I know that it works on Air Conditioning. I've only run the heat pumper for a few minutes a while back and I can't remember what settings we had the fan on. The best I can remember, it will work on both.

The most common reason is low on freon, you would need an a/c guy to put some gages on it. That's the first thing to check

Your first step is to look at the owners manual and follow any trouble shooting steps. The second idea is to call Dometic and ask them for further trouble shooting advice. Their number should be in the manual.

I suspect, but haven't checked, that the system is sealed like most roof top AC units. If that is the case, then there is no way to check the coolant levels without modding the Cool Cat, something that would void any warranty coverage that you might have.
