Potty options for Hard Siders

Potty facilities are always a concern for a female when camping or traveling. My husband knows this from 1st hand experience. LoL He feels since we stay at places with facilities, its not too much of a problem. However, sometimes that walk is too far and too cold in the middle of the nite or early morning. I am sharing a pic of the potty system we have.

Its definitely not the typical liquid Porti Potti that so many use.

I like that I can take it along with using minimal space, its easy to use and super easy to dispose of ones potty with the WAG Bags and toilet made by Clean Waste (formerly known as the PETT system)

The toilet seat sets up & takes down fast and supports 500 lbs. At 6 lbs, it weighs very little. It uses a double bag system that contains a poo powder which gels urine to a solid and breaks down poo. Bag and toss..they use this system on river trips and mountain hiking where Honey buckets arent possible and digging a hole is impossible.

The pic shows the seat folded up and set up. The WAG bags are seen in the bottom mesh holder. When used, the bag opens wide enough to cover the toilet seat & then drop the doo/pee into the second bag and toss or pack out to dispose later.

Just an option for those who dont want the hassle of cleaning their porti potti

he should treat you like a queen and get something decent for your trailer. he can hit the bushes/trees. us guys are used to that. but girls are a different story. if i were to do what he's doing,....well, let's just say that "daddy ain't going to the candy store". i would do my best to make sure my girls, wife and daughter, had it made as far as facilities go...whether inside the trailer during the off hours, or at the campground facilities during business hours. it doesn't bother me for the girls to use the camper stuff all of the time. it's easy to dump, no pun intended. it's private, which is what females need, and it is ours, which we know will be clean! have a good'en. just my two cents, sorry if i gave a nickel's worth!

LOL - oh thanks Murphykyle! My husband does all he can to accommodate my needs. The dry disposal system is my idea over the porti potti because I travel to dog shows by myself & ha e no desire to empty a liquid porti potty. This trailer was something I wanted...if he had any sy, he'dhve a new bass boat. The previous RV we had, I bought brand new, paid cash and when he got home, he saw for the first time. He knew I was looking & felt as.long as I got what I wanted, thats all that mattered. Now with this small trailer, I asked for his input before I bought it...he was intrumental in my decision. We've been married nearly 23 years, dont worry bout me - I can take care of myself. haha .he'd be the first to agree. ;-)

I will guess then, that your choice of potty is a porti potti system? As you may already know, space in the A-frame is a premium. I prefer bathroom privacy which is why we have a pop up shower tent for that purpose. I love my DH but that doesnt mean we have to share every experience together...since I am the one with the issue, I resolved it my way.

I was super happy to discover a dry system over the conventional liquid...thought I would share with others. It may appeal more to boon dockers/primitve camp enthusiasts. One of my co-workers asked if she could have a WAG bag to keep in her car, for travel emergency...I gladly gave her one for her "what if one day" .

I think that we are using the same or similar pop-up privacy tent for our outdoor privy.

My wife and I both like your WAG system. It looks like it sits higher than the supplied portapotty.

We didn't even consider getting the cassette toiler version of the AFrame as we just felt it was to close to bed, cooking. My wife said Yuck! No way!

I'll put the PETT/WAG on our short list things to possibly get! We have a Bass Pro shop here in Prattvile. I'll take a look at it.

Thanks, David, for providing a link regarding the system! Yes, you are correct - The toilet is taller than the porti potti the trailers come with. There are other interesting bucket style systems that use a variety of methods to handle waste - one can just google "portable waste systems" for some eye opening reading. haha what a topic!

I'm glad the PETT/WAG system works for you. It sounds like you have a pretty good setup.

For Gary and I, it wouldn't be as good of a fit as our cassette toilet is. Our set up works great for us for those "up in the night" nature calls, which is the only time we use it. We don't go #2 in our pottie. We use the Park's facilities for that and for "going" during the daytime. Our A126 came with a curtain that we hang for semi-privacy. As I said, we only use the cassette potty during night time. It works better for us for avoiding finding & putting on shoes, going (stumbling) outside, letting the skeeters in and getting wet if it's raining.

Isn't it great that we all have different options to fit our different needs and preferences?!

Yes - I agree - I love options and I love freedom of choice! And yes, most definitely agree - I love this country...so much, I gave 22 years of service (Navy) to it...

Back to comment - I think the neatest thing about these hard sided trailers is the fact that there are unique options to personalizing them to fit our individual preferences. At first glance, it doesnt seem possible - it appears to be a trailer that is extremely "limited"...I am sure enjoying all the photos of what others do to make their usage more enjoyable...I am sure picking up alot of great pointers!

This would have been perfect for our camping trip to Ontario a few years ago. The potty consisted of a huge hole dug in the ground, then two 2x4's set on top of the hole and a bottomless 5-gallon pail with a toilet seat was perched atop the 2x4's. It was precarious, at best. I had visions of the whole thing tumbling down while I was using it. Needless to say, I wasted no time when nature called!

We survived 20+ years of tent camping with a portable toilet. We also use one in our fishing boat. They're not bad, but I much prefer my porcelain, flusing toilet in my TT. I've paid my dues....

Yes, there are so many great ideas, useful products and interesting inventions mentioned in these forums. I know I've spent a bunch of time reading this stuff.
