Yup, my simple method is to watch voltage. When it hits 11.8 volts with normal loads on (no propane heater fan running), I consider it at about 50% state of charge. I have confirmed that by disconnecting the battery at night so it sees no load at all, and get a reading very close to 12.0 volts in the AM.
