The jack screw is slightly bent on at least 2 of the 4 on mine, but that wasn't causing the binding. The curve is in the middle of the screw so seldom is engaged on the jack arms. But the washers and housing were hanging up at both ends and making noise. I put a couple of drops of automatic transmission fluid on the threads, and the noise and jamming went away.
I like ATF for situations where the lubricant needs to "cling", but not be sticky so as to attract dirt and muck (like grease). I need to renew every year or so, but the threads stay clean and lubed.
