Propane tank switch valve question

Since I'm on the forum, I have a simple question. I noticed the tank selection switch. If the selected tank runs out, will it draw from the other tank automatically? or do I have to switch it manually?

All the switch/lever does is change the "indicator" the regulator will switch and draw from the reserve tank. Flip the "switch" and then refill empty and you are good to go
Hope this helps

You have to switch it manually unless the regulator knob is set to draw from both tanks at once, which is the middle position. That's not recommended because when you run out, you're completely out. Gassman's right, when one tank is empty, open the other tank's valve, turn the knob on the regulator to that tank before you unfasten the empty one, (that way no air gets in the line), and keep on cookin'.

If you have an auto switching valve it will do it automatically if both tanks are open. Some are manual and you have to do it manually....if you have this type it is auto...
When middle indicator show red (here orange) it means that you have to switch the indicator to proper tank, but the gas part switches automatically.
