Quick Question for a Garage-Stored A-frame

This is my first winter with my 122s and I'm storing it the garage and even decided to winterize it too.

Additionally, I just read on another forum where one recommendation for a garage-stored A-frame is to keep the side latches unbuckled so that it relieves pressure on the roof gaskets.

Has anyone done this or know if this is essential/recommended for keeping an A-frame in the garage? Thanks!

I also leave them unlatched. It's also more convenient if you have to get something out of the camper, you don't have to go to the other side to unbuckle.

Yup leave it unlatched. takes pressure off the roof's lift system (springs) Best if you can store it up, but this works if you can't.

I store outside and leave the street side unlatched. The curb side is set as loose as I can practically make it.

Thank you everyone for the replies. I went ahead and unlatched both sides and have it raised just 6-7 inches. Much appreciated.

Hmmmm.. interesting. I keep my a122s outside.. but have it completely covered. Maybe I should unlatch the top too. My first thought is.. bugs, water, etc, getting in.. but I'm sure those roof panels are not air tight even when latched down.. what do you think?

I would be very concerned about mice myself. My garage and home are buttoned up pretty tight....never even seem a mouse....but the aframe roof latches are clipped down. I have seen pi tures of popups after a wintertime of visitors....the cushions, bed, curtains were basically totalled ....
I have been buttoning it down for the last 5 years....with no issues to the torsion bars in the lift.
For me its just not worth the risk.

I do think you want to keep the top secure if the camper is outside. I use one latch, adjusted to provide minimal pressure on the roof. I think the seal will degrade over time from normal exposure to the elements whether the roof is latched or not. The seal is a long term maintenance item. It will need to be replaced at some point.

For outside storage, these steps seem to be prudent.

Keep the nose of the camper elevated to provide a slight backward slope to the folded roof to prevent water from running between the panels.

Cover the skylights with some form of UV opaque material to prevent sunlight degradation of the acrylic.
