Recycled canopy to Awning

Got most of the kinks out of my recycle project. Started with cover from Coleman canopy where frame was trashed by wind. Removed back side trim to the seam, sewed wide industrial Velcro, the loop part, along that edge to match up to the hook part I installed on the front wall edge as you would for the very expensive dealer version from Dometic. I removed the tie down portion on that side and sewed on salvaged seam binding to match the rest of the awning. At the front center I used an anchor tab taken from the back corners to hold an adjustable tent pole, aluminum adjustable 1" tube kind. At each corner another adjustable 6' tent pole. Since the center top is taller I used a pole that adjusts up to 9'. I worried abou t sagging so added shock corded dome tent poles from left to right, 1 front and 1 back using tge Velcro tabs already there but sewed the side ones to form a retaining "cup". Been stormy so windy and it stayed up fine. Not real purty and may leak some due to previous abuse but a nice 12x12 shade. Stows in, yes recycled, tent pole bag and fabric part rolls up small and is secured with two streatchy Velcro straps. Just love Velcro. Same thing would work with a srandard 12x12 tarp and the center pole and shock corded tent poles would probably not be necessary but I worked with what I had on hand. The 12' width gives the most coverage but smaller would still work.

Way to recycle, trailgranny! The project sounds interesting. I can sorta imagine it.

We are a very visual group. Please post pics, when you have it set up again, so we can see your handy-work.

Doesn't have to be purdy to be functional.
