right turn signal/brake light

Anyone know how to fix the right turn signal/brake light on the A128 beyond replacing the bulb and checking the wiring? Started with my truck (attached a different trailer and it worked). Replaced the bulb on the camper and checked the wiring for power. At this point I'm at a loss as to what to do, the dealer wants way too much money to repair it so that's out of the question saying it's not covered under warranty.

Test light

Get you a 12 volt test light. Start at front and work your way to light. May want to check at light first thou. Maybe a bad ground.

Is the parking light operating? If "yes" then your ground should be OK for the tail light fixture.

Did you replace the bulb with the correct bulb? It must be a 2 filament bulb that matches the bulb number on the old bulb... probably #1157.

Tailight works and bulb is 1157 even swapped bulbs from left to right. The left side works fine with either bulb so im thinking a bad socket maybe?

A bad ground is almost always the go to problem. How did you check the wiring?

If you cannot find the problem, you can take your camper to a trailer shop rather than the dealer. In my experience, they should have a lower labor rate and are skilled in tracking down trailer light problems. Plus they can do you lube and axle work and check the TV when and if needed. Most of them are used to working on a one day turnaround, just like an auto mechanic.

Might be easier just to run a new wire for that particular filament from the tongue on back. It wouldn't necessarily need to follow the same path as the factory wiring. It would save a lot of head scratching at someone's hourly rate.

Someone recently posted about their interior wiring developing a break in the insulation. If that happened somehow with your tail light wiring, the problem could be that the current is being grounded. Have you looked where the tail end wiring comes out through the rear frame crossmember and goes up into the space behind the rear compartment? On my 2011, that happens below the left taillight. There's no grommet there, I think I recall, and it's a good place to develop a short.

Not so far with wiring. I think it's time for me to clean the plug that goes into my tow vehicle's connector. It's exposed all year and has evidently oxidized. Campco (Camco?) makes a "holster" for the plug when not in use; think I'm going to have to get one
