Rolling Up Your Water Hose
I know this is a dumb question but here goes anyway.
For those of you that have the storage compartment across the front of your Aframe, how do you carry your water hose?
I try to keep the storage box pretty organized but when I try to roll my water hose up it curls and twists and I finally just throw it into the storage compartment. I tried rolling it into a 5gal bucket but that was a pain.
Any ideas?
Thanks
David

Best thing, throw away your old hose and get one that is more flexible.Ours rolls back nicely and doesn't really have a memory.Kind of like it's owner!

I have two 25 foot lengths of flat drinking water hose. The water pressure puffs it up to a 1/2 inch round when in use. It winds up a flat holder. I picked it up at a local independent hardware store but haven't seen it on the market in years.

I bought 2 flat 25' hoses several years ago at Camping World. Don't remember the cost but they weren't cheap.

How about those shrinking water hoses that shrink down to nothing when not used. I've see them at Lowes before. They would save you a lot of room

Don't think they are recommended for potable water.

Flat hoses are NOT Recommended. If you already have a water hose, this works very good:

Hi Kailani!
Because most flat garden hoses (and garden hoses in general) are made from polyvinyl chloride. Here is a good article that explains why you should not drink from a garden hose:
Why You Should Never Drink from a Garden Hose | Rodale News
Instead, you should always use a hose specifically designed for drinking water (they are usually white or blue) like this Camco one on Amazon:
Amazon.com: Camco 22853 Premium Drinking Water Hose (5/8"ID x 50': Automotive
Oh, and while you are at it don't forget a pressure regulator! Some campgrounds have water pressure so high it can damage or ruin your plumbing!

That's all we did in the summer when we were kids (drink from the garden hose). Bob, looks like the maximum length your reel will fit for 5/8" hose is 25 feet?

I bought a cheap reel from Harbor Freight (less than $30) and mounted it inside my storage compartment. I actually installed 2, one for water hose and one for my 50A electrical cord. Works great and holds 50' of water hose and 25' of electrical cord. Great thing is that while reeling it in it also drains the water hose while stowing it. Saves time and space inside the storage compartment. I also don't have to worry about an expensive electrical motor that could need replacement like on those real expensive rigs.

I am with you mud yapster... that 50A cord will whip an old man's tail. I thought about building a short cord, for plugging in at home, till I priced the connectors... especially the twist connector that attaches to FW.
